Trying to help a buddy. He switched axle on his older 94 pickup to an elocker axle since he found a complete drum to drum axle, 4wd computer, dash switch, and ~5 feet of harness connecting to actuator motor. Axle swap is complete, the fun part is wiring now.

Question probably been asked and answered many times before but after several hours of searching, we can not locate any definite answer.

He understand they're many off road company that sell aftermarket wiring harness or offer very helpful diagram such as 12voltguys, inch worm, ORS just to name a few; but trying to avoid forking ~150-200 or so for the aftermarket harness.

Have any member on TW attempt to use the 4wd computer and dash switch by using only the necessary pin/cable on the computer to engage the locker?

Please keep post general and professional. If it's doable, please provide help, if you're well aware that is not possible; please mention.

    Thanks in advance.....

Your vehicle doesn't have the elocker but has 4wd ecu and you want to add it to yours? correct?

No. It's on a 94 pickup. He swap rear axle to a 2004 tacoma elock axle.

I told him to just buy the aftermarket wiring kit and let it be but he insist on trying to figure out how to modify the 4wd computer and switch to engage the locker.

The question is, have anyone attempt this by selecting the correct pin on the 4wd computer to lock the rear end?

Why cant a couple normal ole wires be run to the locker, activated with a normal rocker switch of your choosing and 12 volts sent right down a wire to the rear end?

That computer is just for the safety deal with the tacoma which wont allow the locker to activate when not in anything but 4low 1st gear or whatever. When it comes down to it is still just 12v that activates the locker...maybe theres something i dont know about this swap but idk...

No, he's not using the 94 4wd computer to wire the elocker. the rear end is going on a 1994 4wd pick up. He's not tampering with anything from his 94 electrical.

As stated in the third post, he bought everything from a 2004 4wd tacoma (rear axle, dash switch, small brown 4wd computer control unit, and have about 5 feet of harness connecting to the locker motor)

I'm with bry838. If you don't have a transfer case there is no need for the 4wd computer. But..... What does he exactly want it for? Just to engage it?

    Yes xbeaus.

He just want to engage and disengage the locker. He opt out of wanting to spend ~200 buck on aftermarket wiring kit just to lock his rear end.

He want to reuse what he have to lock the rear end.

Yeah this is getting way too complicated! No need for all this ecu, computer, 200 dollar wiring harness talk...

It would take 30 min and maybe 10 to 15 dollars for a nice switch a bit of wire possibly some connectors and thatd be pretty much it to engage that locker.

The DPDT relay works great. I ran one for a few years on my FJ axle, and then I switched to the Tacoma e-locker ECU.

If you need wiring diagrams for the OEM e-locker let me know.

How will this idea work? He have the factory tacoma switch and factory 5 feet of harness and pigtail connecting to the actuator. He'll need to add footage to the harness to make it to the cab.

He like the idea of the relay
