Holy shit. This guy lived down the street from me. I never talked to him but would see his truck everyday. I guess he moved in the last month or so.

Holy shit, thought I was gonna hydrolock the truck this morning. Don't know if anyone is familiar with waterfront road heading to Tesoro Refinery, but during high tide it floods out in a bunch of spots. I'm very familiar with those spots. Today, apparently the marsh overflowed out in to the road just past 680 offramp as I found out when the slight dip I hit was hiding a fuckin lake on the road about 20 feet across and a good foot deep. Water everywhere, cant see shit, feel a loss of steering. Just let off the gas and thought I saw a fence heading my way, Thanked God for a great life. Turns out I just slid about 2 feet to the left, not 20 feet to the right...turned off everything and listened for water in the engine, good to go.

    TV; DR
Big puddle. Ouch time. Jeffs still alive. Thank God

Pretty much. The steering wheel went completely soft, thought I was spinning or turning, I dunno, got tossed around a little, couldn't see out of any window at all, figured I was doing a couple 360s before I splashed in to the marsh or fence or something

Scary shit. You should buy more lights, and probably make them infrared plus night vision gogs.

Did you end up getting Cooper ST Maxx, or are you running something else still? I thought you were talking about this at one time.

Our projects are hammered! Both my jobs are flat and I'm not allowed to discharge. We won't be running production for a while.

Professional grade Stihl. Don't fuck around with the "homeowner" or even "rancher" model lines. You're far better off with even a used or older pro model than a new entry level model.

Think of it in terms of shocks or truck parts. You could buy cheap entry level shit "I'm not really going to go off roading that often" the you realize you actually do use your shit, and you should have bought better stuff. The pro level Stihls offer not only far better performance, but are fully rebuildable, lighter and more efficient, mod-able and will run absolute circles around a homeowner or rancher level saw.

Huskys are decent, ran them on the fire crew for a few years, but I'm a Stihl guy through and through. Plus Masellis is a Certified Stihl dealer and service center. I go there for all my parts.

Come run my Ported Ms360. It rips like a beast. Then go run a homeowner saw. There's no comparison.

Take it from a guy who has run saws professionally for over a decade, the extra few hundred bucks you spend on a high quality saw will be worth it's weight every time you use it. And if you're like me, you'll like your saw so much you'll invent reasons to have to use it :)

I go cut firewood on the National Forest every year, not because I can't buy it locally, but because I fuckin love running my saw :)

Check out Arboristsite.com (aka tacomaworld for saw and tree nuts)

Read through the saw threads, even check out the classifieds... You won't be sorry.

Thanks dude I was hoping you would weigh in! Maselli's is where I was at looking at the Stihl's. Next question, what size?

I have a POS Poulon. $90. Couldn't start it last time I tried.

The tree division of our company only use Stihl. 2 certified arborists, 1 master arborist... they all swear by Stihl.

They own about 20 of them.

What kills me is I had just turned on the Spod screen to turn the lights on JIC but there was a Semi up the road I didn't want to blind, so I was gonna wait until he passed. Guess Night vision goggle are a must now

Haha, I think like that too that's funny. I'm thinking a smaller bar would be better for bed space in my cramped ass bed, plus it's not like it's permanent I can have a smaller camping bar I suppose. Looks like some of the newer models have s Quickstop feature that stops the chain within 1 second if your right hand comes off, seems like a nice feature to prevent a noob from severing their femerel artery.

    'Femoral'.

I would say the ms261 would be a good size. A 16" bar is sufficient for most of the limbing, firewood and down tree stuff. But the ability to run a 20" is nice in case you need it.

The ms361 I run can pull a 24" but I run a 20" most often and it rips. Like Peter said, smaller bar is like gearing down, quicker revs and higher rpm. A saw that can pull 2 bar sizes gives you lots of versatility.

Unless you plan on doing some major falling, a 20" should be big enough for anything you will do, and a 16 will handle 90% of trail work.

Auto correct would not give me the spelling for femoral haha, kept changing it to general. Thanks :anonymous: 261 and a 16" is about what I had in mind, YouTube confirms.
