Hey, those mall parking lots can be pretty rough... Ya might need something with all that capability to go get your Cinnabon.

I'm not a Ford fanboy by any stretch of the imagination - outside of the drivetrain and posh interior my 2001 Windstar was a piece of shit - but if it's not a short-wheelbase 2-door then it's not a Bronco.

All of these other things I'm seeing examples of are basically the equivalent of the Ford Explorer.

I'm not seeing anything that says "Bronco" to me.

It's sad, because I'd like to see it be successful because of what it'd mean to competition in the segment.

^I think 2-door SUVs have gone the way of 2-door pickup trucks... The only 2-door SUV that's hanging on is the Wrangler.

Uh, the only thing "utility" about the Wrangler is the hitch. You have to step out of one to change your mind. Get more than two bags of groceries and you need a roof rack.

The future is in long beds.

So if I am picking up what your throwing down correctly....you are excited about the new "Bronco" and you're considering trading in the taco on a lowered wrangler with racing slicks and a three way hitch? :notsure:

    o_O

An 8 foot bed is a long bed. Pretty much nothing sold on the market today comes off the assembly line with a long bed bolted onto it. Probably 90% of truck sales are for various versions of 4 door cabs with either short or standard length beds.

The rear seat in the 2-dr Wrangler is removable, no? Similar storage space as a VW Golf?

I've rented 4-dr Wranglers a few times on vacation. Plenty of space for my luggage etc.

    I know.

I'd love a '72 Chevy 2-tone C-10 with a long bed. Long beds (outside of specialty trucks) and lost to the annals of nostalgia.

I just don't like it - it just feels wrong. A Charger or a Malibu is a 2-door sport coupe, not a 4-door sedan. I felt the same way when the 4-door Chevy S-10 Blazer came out - it was an abomination to the name. Yes, they're going to bring back Bronco but it won't really be was a Bronco was unless it meets those old-school criteria. The Ranger, on the other hand, should actually be more what the original Ranger was, updated to a modern time (like the Tacoma, with the addition of a 4-door model). I've never been a fan of Jeeps and hate on them when the mood strikes, whether I'm right or not.

Some aspects of these resurrections seem evolutionary, and others just feel like an old badge on something different (ala Charger or Malibu). Maybe it's me. I should just go back to sitting on my porch and guard the lawn from whipper-snappers.
