I don't know why I ever watch the news, it always pisses me off.

The legislators are going to talk about a bill to require motorcycle helmets unless you pay a tax to allow you to ride without a helmet. It is a F* cash grab. The legislators see the registration is going up and wants to figure out how to get more money out of it. I choose to wear a helmet, and I don't think the state should take that option away from me. If it is really in the name of safety, just require helmets, don't make a buyout option. That is how you know it is all about the $$$.

Requiring you wear it is one thing, and i think it should be mandatory, but they shouldnt make it a tax, unless you get pulled over for not wearing one.

 

Who has yours? @snowtank has mine, and I am getting them this weekend.

 

If they make it a law to always require a helmet, getting pulled over for not wearing one isn't a tax, its a ticket and a fine.

Making it possible to pay a "fee" to opt out of the helmet law, is just like the insurance law, and SCOTUS says that that is a tax.

Not wearing a helmet is Darwin at it's finest.
