Lol tried to squeeze my arm between the tent and window...too tight...got stuck...sad face day

 

Any extra supports I need to add to secure it when wheeling?

 

Not if you have it mounted securely

 

Just the brackets it came with I guess that's plenty.

 

Im going to pick up different brackets today. Ill show you what I get later

you'll be plenty fine with the factory mounts.

@BoxRocket - when will these be back in stock?

 

It does use the same channel.

I believe another RTT manufacture sells screw on channel pieces so you could technically make both work if you wanted.

I use exhaust clamps to bolt down my RTT.

those seem pretty thin gauge to be supporting the tent. I know they aren't supporting the weight vertically, but once you get up in it...plus wind...Id want something a hair more stout for a grand or two worth of tent lol.

 

I like this idea. Anyone ever used exhaust clamps like this on Yakima round bars?

Meh, those slightly bent bars are all like that. Maybe someone from @TepuiTents or @Cascadia Tents can speak up to what sort of torque those are meant for and if they're supposed to deform like that?

 

The orange colored ones are still in stock. I'm checking on the ETA for the other ones. Stand by.

 

Some slight deformation of the flat bar is fine. Similar to what is in the referenced photo. That should be plenty tight to keep the tent secured and tight.

The bigger thing is making sure the bolt threads are engaged fully in the nylock nuts. Ideally, 2-3 threads exposed past the end of the nut.
