Bed cargo carrier options

What are some good options for carrying some cargo in the box of the Tacoma? I'd really like something toward the tailgate so smaller stuff won't be bouncing and flying all around (I don't drive like a granny) and is easy to get at. Something similar to the Truxedo Expedition cargo carrier would be awesome. Theirs is too big for the Tacoma box otherwise I'd just use it. Something that attaches to the tracks or cleats would be great. Thanks.

 

The only thing I've seen that mounts to the bedrail was made by @KB Voodoo and I can't remember if it's still being made.

Another option is a bed bar and some Action Packer containers, that'd be cost effective and weather proof.

the toyota cargo net actually does really well at holding stuff in place (especially with the bed mat underneath)...

 

well that would be my fool quota for the day if that's the case. mine is sitting NIB in my garage waiting for install.

 

This. The cargo net takes up no space when you have to take it down for bigger stuff.

Pretty damned durable unit and the drawers slide and latch like butter. Would be killer for storing my hunting guns, clothes, gear etc while being able to stow the kennels on top.

But they are SPEND-Y!!

Get a bed extender.

 

I actually ended up making a Truxedo Expedition fit. There was a promo from Truxedo where you got a free Expedition if you purchased a Titanium tonneau cover. Did all that and thought the Expedition wouldn't work after pulling it out of the box. Emailed Truxedo right away and he reassured me it would not work in the Tacoma because they don't have mounting brackets for it and the sling was too wide. Well he was completely wrong. The sling is the perfect width, and I just had to drill 1 hole in each bracket, then do a small amount of grinding in order to make it fit perfectly. I have pics that I can share, but will do that once I make a thread for all of the things I'm doing to my Tacoma. Here it is installed in my 2017 Pro.

 

You did that in 9 hours?

 

LOL no. Took about an hour and a half of messing with the brackets to get it all perfect. Could do it again in about 20 min.

 

I'm thinking about getting the OEM cargo net you find it was a worthwhile item?

 

Money well spent, bought one a day or two after I bought my 09, one of the first things I put in the 17.

No problem. The day after I bought the 09, went to the store, got some stuff plus 6 pack, bottles slide and smashed, next day went to dealer and got net. Never broken a beer bottle since.

So I just picked up the cargo net, works great. However when I'm on the highway I notice the bottom of it starts flying around in the wind, and it gets tangled up in itself. Curious what, if anything, other members are doing to secure the bottom part of the net?
