A gated track that allows nearby dealerships to use specifically for test drives. It was maybe 1/4 mile long loop with a little hill, skid area, and fake drive way to practice backing into. Not like a race track or off-road test track.

It has nothing to do with the "commission" amount. Most salespeople are paid more on volume and csi these days anyway.

You'd think the salesperson would be especially familiar with it then and not toss it in 4wd. Jeez

Yeah, I had a similar experience almost everytime I go to a dealer. It doesn't make sense not to know your products that you are selling.

Sometimes a salemans won't take no for an answer, put pressure on you, act like your buddy and stuff.

Ignore all that BS, you find a car you like, ask the sales manger for dealers receipt, you need to know how much did the dealer paid for it and then you'll negotiate with the sales manager. Why offer less than what dealer paid? Know that number so you know the lowest offer right? Usually invoice is around 2k under sticker.

Once the deal stalls but you feel close to making a deal. Ask for dealers cost on stuff you may want. For ex: Weathertech floormats for $100, extra year free oil change, TRD air filter $80, etc.

If you feel like you're getting a good deal, then great for you. Don't be afraid to leave the dealer for a few hours or the next day. Think about it. Most likely, dealer will call you with a better offer to get your business.

One time, I asked if they had anything RWD and manual, he pulled up a automatic FWD Scion TC. :facepalm:Some salesman are terrible listeners.

I said some, not all. I had salesman that's chill and knew his shit, no bs.

Fair enough but not all salesmen are going to treat everyone in
That's the point not all salesmen are bad, but its rare to find a dealership without at least one bad or someone who has had at least one bad experience.

No. Just the opposite.8 standing around doing nothing when I wanted to pre-order my '06 GMC back in 2005.
They sent a 20 year old kid to help me and he knew nothing about the truck I wanted to order.
When I finally got to talk to one of the "real" salesmen, he asked if i wanted to buy, or if I was just kicking tires.
He got a hearty GFY and I went to the next dealer 10 miles away and he was more than happy to order my truck.

Did you take your new truck back to the original dealer to gloat at the 'real salesman'? Sweet revenge...

I sell cars myself and I'm glad you left. There are good ones, and bad ones. Email his manager a link to your post here. It will show him your true reach and disappointment. Don't buy elsewhere yet...they might make a sorry discount.

Many yrs ago my friend wanted to test drive the Mitsubishi 3000GT. He was 22 and looked several years younger..I forget what he drove at the time. He was laughed at the first place he went. Too bad they didn't know he managed 3 dry cleaning stores his family owned. The second place treated him right start to finish. He made sure to stop by the first place in the car and give out business cards to his stores.

Toyota of the black hills is the servicing dealership where I live and everyone there seems to be very knowledgeable about their lineup. Even older ones. They have some cool restored Toyota's in there showroom as well. Guess not all dealerships are created equal.

I get my oil filters to do my own oil changes from the Subaru dealership cause they sell the factory ones cheaper than Autozone sells Fram and its on the way to my office. I was walking across the lot to the parts office and a sales guy came out and started talking to me. I told him I'm just getting a couple oil filters and my next car will probably be a Tacoma or 4Runner (that's why I'm on this site) but he just wouldn't quit and was begging me to take a test drive. I told him I couldn't do anything today anyway because I need to get to work and my wife wasn't with me and I value her opinion. He said a real man buys what he wants and doesn't let his wife wear the pants in the family. I asked him if he has a cot next to his desk I could sleep on when my wife kicks my ass out and can I get a job here if I get fired cause I'm late for work because I spent all morning at the car dealership.

Salesman said that? His wife probably cheats on him while he strokes his own ego.

I ran across a salesman not to long ago who said "this one will get you laid" and he was talking about s Nissan Maxima. I'm 36. I don't need a car to get laid. I told him if I needed a car to get laid I have other problems.

Yep. I wanted to tell him if you're trying to challenge me to buy a car just so I can prove to you that I'm a badass or a real man then you win. I guess I'm not a real man. I just walked away. I've got a buddy that works at a Porsche/Audi dealer and he has guys come in and buy cars without getting their wife's approval and they all have something in common, they say they will never do it again.

Also had a sales guy tell me "if you want nice things you have to be willing to pay for them" because we were $1,000 apart on my wife's Highlander Limited. If y'all wouldn't have put the dealer added options on there we would be on the same page. I don't mind paying for nice things but I don't want to pay $250 for plastic around the door edges, $200 for nitrogen in the tires (air is 80% nitrogen to begin with), and $200 for plastic behind the door handle so she doesn't scratch the paint with her fingernails. Plus $300 for "digital" tint, what is so digital about window tint.
