    Current Job:

    lots of freedom
    regular schedule
insanely close (hour lunches at home)
    like creating stuff/ability to create
    capped out
    crap pay
boring at times, and the REAL work is lame

    New Job:
    big pay increase
farther drive (shorter lunch and cant leave)
    off schedule
    in the automotive industry
    can grow

That's all I see off this list. Better pay and a spot to grow.

Change can be tough but that situation you described above seems like a no brainer.

45% is a very substantial Bump in most any industry and the hours don't seem bad as long as you have the possibility to change after you are settled in. Sounds like you have a good setup in your current gig, but you also don't want to limit yourself because you are comfortable. If anything why not give it a shot for a couple of years, you are still young and if anything it might put you in a better financial spot for the future. Best of luck in your decision.

See that's good to know if your maxed already then it's time to determine if that's what your content with for the rest of your time. I've choosen to not promote up for over 5 years now as going from hourly to salary just isn't worth the increase as I work my 40 when they are suppose to work 45-50 if there wages get averaged out im ahead pay wise. Now in about 3-5 more years I'll be maxed and I'll have to decide if that's what I want to do or will I move on as well.

the access and freedom to create at my current job is the biggest part, and why I haven't left already. I think that is what I'm hung up on the most (regarding leaving).

There's a place in Chandler/Tempe forget where but it had everything you could imagine, and you just pay a membership fee kind of like a gym but more expensive and you can go use all there shit to do your projects and then some.

@XPOTRPR I am a little late reading here and people have already given some great advice. I'll put in my 2 cents now. Given how young you are I would go for it in your position. If you are maxed out at your current job and current pay is a concern, the substantial pay increase would be a big plus in my pro/con list. Also having the opportunity to grow at the new company is another huge plus. Being stagnant with no option to grow your career sucks. Losing the side projects you are able to do now does suck but you never know what other doors could be opened. The shift change will take the most getting used to. Back when I was married there were a couple years that we worked opposite during the week. That wasn't so bad as we would still see a each other a little during the week but had to whole weekend to travel and do whatever. The concerns you have with the new job find out if the can be remedied after a bit of time put in.

Dude is this the place? http://www.techshop.ws/

@XPOTRPR go check out what they have. This price doesn't seem bad https://secure.techshop.ws/memberships.cfm?step=select_offer&offer=58

Edit: Here is a list of what they have to offer for use. Even a 4 axis CNC.
