advice on cold air intake

    ive been thinking about installing a cold air intake on my truck for a while now and was just wonder which would be the best choice and how much of a difference do they actually make on mpg and power???

    I really like my TRD CAI, sounds great! Not to positive on the MPG or HP gains though, if any?:cool:

    I have the TRD CAI and to be perfectly honest, I think that it touched up my throttle response a little bit, but it decreased my mpg. The mpg decrease wasn't due to the CAI, it is due to me always being in the throttle because I want to hear it. :woot:

    You won't see a benefit in mpg. You might see a benefit in power. CAIs let in more air, which means you can burn more gas (more power).

    save your money for something else they are a waste of money but its up to you

    CAIs don't let in more air... Your throttle body will always take in the same amount of air. You will only "get more air" if you get boosted. CAIs let in cooler air if that. You can't even consider short rams a CAI.

    If you add an intake to your truck, expect to lose mpg because you will be hitting it more often, loss of high end torque, and throttle response will be improved. It is almost useless without a tune.

    Cooler air is slightly more dense, hence more air per volume.

    A TRD intake is a great idea sounds great and dyno proven to make more power!!!!!! Mpg decrease is usually b/c u drive it harder afterwards

    thanks alot for the input i really think i am gonna spend the money on something else the common answer seems to be they really dont help that much

    I would actually prefer multiple replies even if it said the same thing. That way one would know there is concensus.
