What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Yea that's exactly what I thought so we did but still made a squeak. Thinking it may be a bearing or something

The lca bushing does suck and causes the truck to kinda wander when braking but I'll do them this summer and possibly burn or drill the bushings out. Mine are probably fused together

 

new belts tend to take a bit to quiet down too. But could easily be an idler pulley too. the AC one is common since its low and can get dunked a lot.

 

The AC pulley is the one that went for me. Got an OE replacement the next day all good. Easy fix.

But start with cheaper stuff, like tightening the belts a bit more

Yes, but I found if you cut it at the y-pipe on the passengers side as long your nuts/studs come out fine on the engine it's just a matter of maneuvering to get both sides out. One cut and cut the bolts that connected both cats and it came out, unfortunately I wasted a whole hell of a lot of time trying to get the nuts off the y-pipe which were frozen...soaking them heating them up. I should of just listen to Gadget and cut it out from the beginning

 

what brand of headers did you go with?

 

In jbas instructions they just straight up tell you to cut off stock crossover. I snapped every single stud off mine ahaha. Unfortunately i didnt have any shinny new headers to put back on and had to suffer through drilling the studs out with a 12" bit and hand drill

 

Finally came up with my own way to mount my jack. Will probably mount a shovel/axe on there too.

They're the ones for the 95-98's. The only thing different is the y-pipe. From '99 on w/ the 1st gens they went with 2 cats so the y-pipe had to be shorter. But you can modify after the y-pipe and it'll work. I happen to find the y-pipe that corresponds to the 99-04's. All I have to do is cut the 3 bolt flange on the cat and weld a 2 bolt flange and it'll be good to go

 

That sounds absolutely terrible! I've snapped a few studs/bolts at work. Easy outs do not like me

Currently stuck!

Been digging for an hour or so, chained up and such. No luck. Have someone coming up to give me a pull.

Like I said, I've dug, chained up, locked my diff, all said things.

I literally got too far to the right 4" and just get sucked off the road, driver error, my fault, yell at me, call me dumb, tell me what you would have done.
