    update pg.7

Going along in rush hour traffic and a kid in front of me slammed on his brakes for no apparent reason, as no one was in front of him.

Hit around 25-30mph. Air bags did not deploy. It's not driveable as the radiator leaked out all the coolant AND transmission fluid.

Still got a ticket even after the kid told the cop he forgot why he had to hit the brakes so hard.

This really sucks! Only had it a year...

What's the likelihood it can be fixed? Wrecked cars are never the same and now the future trade-in value is significantly decreased much more since it's been in an accident.

I had just got the damn hood fixed too!!!

    Crappy pics from the scene

That really sucks but unfortunately it doesn't matter why he slammed on his brakes or whether he actually needed to or not.You failed to maintain a safe distance and will always be cited when rear ending someone.Pretty much everybody follows too closely,I know I'm guilty and sometimes it bites us in the ass but Atleast the truck is fixable

Ehhh. I have to disagree.. It all has to do with the frame. Don't bother looking at the panels to make a guess on whether it is salvageable... Look at the frame..

If that frame is bent with that little bit of damage and that low of speed impact that didn't even deploy airbags then we all should get rid of our tacos now.

When my 2000 got wrecked the drivers side tire caved the frame into the floor and pushed the floor all the way up to where the clutch pedal could not be pushed down, and the bed was touching the cab on 1 side and the other I could fit my fist in. That serious frame damage had no impact on them fixing it, spent over 40 hours on the Frame Machine alone during repair and it was in the body shop for 48 days total.

Suspension, racks, tune, bed, lights. See build thread.
Even with replacing the frame that vehicle is most likely fixable.

OP take this as an opportunity to get some work done outside of the damage. Hood skewp, grill, am bumper ect.

had a similar, but not same result with my gen 2. guess my head lights were pissing driver in front of me off. After 4 brake checks on his part I called the cops with my location. They pulled in behind me and watched the dipshit do it again. His next stop was for the cop - who put him in cuffs and took him to the drunk tank. it is, and was, a scam going on here for people looking to collect on insurance. can't be too safe anymore. glad you are okay. the truck can be made like new.

There's barely even any body damage to it and the airbags never even deployed. It was in rush hour traffic so I would say 30mph is probably pushing it

Seen them total it before. Guy posted a month ago.. I'll have to find the thread. Give me some time, front impact totaled. Also seen one get rear ended at 20mph, totaled...

Check the frame. If its bent you're SOL

And not to sound like a dick but the cop would be an idiot to charge the other driver. Doesn't matter why the guy slammed on the brakes or what, you were behind, you hit him. Doesn't matter how hard he slams on them if you're keeping a safe distance you won't hit him. Unless he cut you off and slammed on the brakes really no way he'd be at fault.

Doesn't matter why he hit the brakes. If you failed to control the speed of your own vehicle in order to avoid a collision most states laws would say you are at fault. The theory behind the "2 second rule" (assuming good road surface and weather conditions) is to give you adequate time to react AND your vehicle enough time to stop before hitting the vehicle in front of you.

Either way it's disconcerting to hear that your airbags didn't go off at 25mph. That doesn't seem right.

The other car is going to collapse before that frame does.
