Try to get it for at least an overnight test drive so that you can drive it on roads you normally travel.

You're expecting a Tacoma to be better on gas than a Tundra? o_O

From what I read in your original post I'm going to recommend you not buy a Tacoma. (or a Ridgeline, or Colorado). Stick to a full sized pickup.

The amount of space inside a new Tundra compared to a Tacoma is... massive. The power difference is massive. And yet fuel economy isn't very far off between them.

My boss owns two Tundra. A 2014 and a 2016/2017. Both are Supercharged. Both push over 500 HP. Both get like 13mpg. He likes to drive... and he often pulls trailers.

My 2nd Gen Tacoma got about 19.1mpg averaged when I bought it. I'm lucky to see 15mpg on a really good day now that I've made upgrades to the truck. Though I don't get the sense you'll be doing the things I've done to mine.

I'm just basing my suggestion off your post. The things you pointed out that were negatives (space, head room, power) will never change on the Tacoma. I'd just hate to see you spend the money to buy one and end up wishing you hadn't.

Me too. Power is really the only thing I am not concerned about. Cab size is an issue as you saw in my rather mixed review. I'm not really big at 240 lbs, just fairly tall. I'll need more seat time before I make up my mind.

Check out the silverado/sierra.... power/mpgs/room... its got everything youre looking for to be honest.

I had to trade in my 2016 sierra z71. (Lady pulled out in front of me in our commuter car, totaled it, didnt want to make two payments on a that truck and a commuter) traded the sierra in towards a taco and prius.

Honestly there isnt anything I can say bad about the sierra. It was an awesome truck. I love my taco too. But nothing negative about the sierra. Other than a pain to park at times.

I'm 6'6", and just bought a new SR5 AC 4WD (no sun roof). No problems fitting in the truck because of my height.

I am 6'-2" with a long torso. I debated the moonroof option a lot, because yeah it is pretty tight. In the end I got it, and occasionally I rub but I am glad I got the moonroof, because I am a moonroof kinda guy.
