I've had my truck for a little over a year now. Bought it in November of 2015. I'm having quite few issues and they seem to be stacking up as I put miles on it. I'm currently sitting around 11k. So far the issues I've had are:
    ●BSM has gone out
    ●spedometer and tachometer tic toc
●digital and analog readout is off by 2mph
●had my tachometer get "caught up" a few times
●stereo has randomly shut off on its own
●whistles when driving at speeds of 35 thru 65
    ●Shifting issue (fixed with update)
I've taken it to the dealer to try and get the spedometer/tachometer issue fixed and they denied seeing a problem at first. Then they agreed to take it for a day and I came back and the tech was looking for a completely different thing than what I told them was the issue. They have opened up a case with Toyota and I gave them some videos of what it was doing for them. (Haven't heard back yet)
Has anyone had any of these problems and know of any fixes/ references I can use and give to Toyota so I can get these sorted out?

I'm a first time Toyota owner. Use to be die hard Chevy but they have to many recalls and Toyota hold their value better. So far I hate this truck and I'm probably going to sell it this year.

The speedometer link was to let you know others are experiencing the issue. I have not checked mine yet as I normally leave it on the MPG display. After reading your post, I remembered seeing these threads a while back. Sometimes, when you take documentation of others having the issues you describe, your Service Dept will have a harder time dismissing it. Good luck getting all the problems resolved.

Dang man sorry to hear about the issues, I also have a TRD OR-AC but not having these issues as of yet.

With the amount of money we all have spend on these trucks, its only logical we shouldn't be faced with such issues hopefully Toyota will have a fix soon... but we shouldn't hold our breath as they tend to be pretty slow. As for getting rid of it as others have expressed, the grass may not be greener on the other side. It may have its issues but nothing is perfect and this is a good place to get help/advice on remedies that pertain to anything Tacoma :D.

We are all hoping for fixes as well keep us updated on the case they opened with Toyota GL! :benchpress:

I haven't had any issues... yet. That being said its my feeling people are more inclined to take time out of there day to post on TW about issues they are having rather then how AWESOME and perfect their truck is ahaha.

Also my OR hasn't seen to much OR actives yet been slammed with work and the family :D

Or maybe my truck has all the same issues mentioned by OP and I am too oblivious to notice. It's entirely possible. lol

Hey I noticed your avatar, are you at Lackland AFB by any chance? I live right by Medina Annex.

Haha this site has me like a hypochondriac with my truck now, I feel like every issue I see on here I have to investigate. I am glad their are people out there making us all aware of the problems and all.

Then you can rave about the Cummins and how much of a piece of crap the truck they put it in is. I just sold my 2003 Ram 2500 Cummins. I loved the engine but the rest of the truck is a Dodge. After a couple of Ram / Cummins I gave up. Don't need a big truck anymore and don't need another Dodge.

When you have as good a vehicle as a Toyota people bitch about the little stuff. With a Dodge there is so much bad once the years pile on it keeps on adding up. You like rust? Dodge come standard with rust right about when you try to decide if you are keeping it for a few more years. Steering linkage issues? Deny it for over a decade then obsolete the tie rod ends and the upgraded parts encompass the whole linkage so tie rod ends cost over $600. Make 2 different calipers with different banjo bolt threads one metric and one standard. So when you have a catastrophic failure and need a new caliper ASAP no one has the right one you need. Make brake line fittings that are Dodge specific and your auto parts guy has to order it in so your brake job puts you off the road for an additional day. That new OEM exhaust is only good for 3-5 years. Stock seats are dead and sacked out by the time it is paid off.

The Cummins will last forever. The truck it is attached to will last as long as your payments provided you don't finance it over 60 months.

I'm only complaining about this stuff because I'm paying quite a bit of money for it. I'm not really aware of all the problems dodges have because I've never owned one, good info though. Buying a used vehicle comes with the expectation of issues in my mind to, you never know how someone drove it or maintained it so I expect the worst. I do know I've been looking good at other trucks and the lack of detail and quality of some trucks turn me away because of my tacoma. It's a great truck, but the way the dealer is acting and their lack of fucks to give is pissing me off. My distaste for this truck might also come from the high hopes and expectations I had for Toyota's build quality. Always heard great things about them. Also mentioned to the dealer some things I read from here and they tossed that out as soon as I mentioned it. They don't care what people say on here because there's no credibility to them.

No worries, we all paid a decent penny and all have high hopes.

Dodges are as good as anything else when new I am told. Mine were used and the Dodge problems exist with all of them. The wheel well rust happens to EVERY zone of them and even on many oil sprayed ones. My last one was sprayed since new and was immaculate underneath yet still had wheel well rot. So I said why bother keep spraying, I assumed I would be long done with the truck before anything really rusty dug in. You have no idea how bad it got. When I sold it I gave away my trailer tongue because I couldn't remove it with a hydraulic Ram. It was rusted in that bad. The running board mounts rusted off and were almost hanging. This is from immaculate to junk in 5 years. The front tie rod linkage was a bad design from new and many complained about DEATH WOBBLE where suspension would compress and the truck would shake the steering so bad people lost control. So bad linkage design and add in tires or whatever and the perfect storm could throw you in the ditch.

I was going to buy another Dodge but new this time. Then as my price expectations kept going up I took a longer look at what I needed. Didn't need massive towing as my 14' enclosed is easily towed with a 6500lb+ capacity. My 16' flatbed car hauler doesn't take a full load ever and even if I need a load of steel from work (we make steel tubing) I can take 2 trips or borrow my neighbors truck for an hour. So I started looking at the Tacoma because I hope to keep it 7-10 years. That's were the Big 3 lost out. We all know what a domestic truck looks like after 10 years. We all know what they drive like after 10 years. We all know what their maintenance will be at that time frame. The more I looked the more I liked the Tacoma. The more I looked the more I kept envisioning my nice new truck and what it would be like at then end of those 10 years and domestic lost all appeal to me.

The Tacoma has a SS exhaust. Not a big deal to some. I live 7 minutes from work. It is a huge deal to me. So item by item I saw the Tacoma pulling ahead until I didn't even consider any other vehicle.

Hopefully your issues can be resolved. It would suck to see you sell then later hate the new one as bad or worse.

Where the hell do you live? That's terrible for it to rust that quick. I use to have an 06 Colorado and it was rust free besides some minor surface rust. I had no idea the exhaust was stainless steel. Good to know! The only way I'm gonna keep this is if I start modifying and making it mine. It's too plain for me right now and that just adds to the frustration with it, but I just need the money to do it. That's where the payment comes in to. Once it's paid off that won't be a problem though. Have you done any mods to yours? I have a lift sitting in the garage but I'm skeptical as to if I should install it or not.
