It's a little different removing parts versus sticking parts in an engine that aren't engineered for it. What happens when you start sending pieces of copper back around and into your engine?

Why would copper pieces be flying around in the engine?? The plate mentioned in the thread is blocking off some of the gasses from flowing back into the engine...nothing more. A EGR block off plate does the same thing except this idea keeps the system in place but the guy found that restricting some of the gasses helped with an issue we found. If you dont have the issue youre probably a feather foot, I live at 7000k feet and surrounded my mountains and mesas so I will run this truck up to redline at least 2 times a week.

    This.

It isn't a Toyota thing either, its an EPA thing (Thanks EPA). Several other vehicles built since 2000ish have had this issue too. My Subaru WRX had it with the stock tune....not to mention a very noticeable EPA mandated enrichment delay:(

I posted a depiction of the throttle map for the 2GR-FKS over here which indeed confirms an intentional throttle hang...
    More power?? How!

That being said, the tacoma 6spd transmission need a little time for the syncros to work anyway. Meaning, you aren't going to be shifting real fast. In operation, I don't notice the throttle hang at all.

Test drove a '16 someone traded-in yesterday. The hang was imperceptible but we will see once I get used to driving mine...

the FJ cruiser had it with the older 4.0L v6. Wouldnt be surprised if the newer 3.5 did it too.

My old and now my brothers 94 Toyota turbo 6 speed doesnt do that. My other brothers 04 WRX 5 speed does. My 06 V6 6 speed 4x4 Tacoma did it. I dunno, it's strange but to me it was annoying too.

106 miles and no perceptible throttle hang on my '17 DCOR MT. Will post any changes if/when they arise...
