yeah this is definitely one of the, if not the, easiest MT i've ever driven. you just can't go good if you overdrive it. it's got a truck's pace & rhythm.

That's good. the low here is about 55 so i think i'm safe on that bet.
By truck pace you mean just nice smooth shifts at lower RPMs instead of the sports cars where you push it and try to quickly shift in and out

Edit: Can you drop it into first on the dirt and get the back to spin out

Read other day on Motor Trend coverage of Auto show. I can't remember the names of the Lexus sedans cuz they seem all the same to me lol. But it was a full size sedan for sure pictured in article.

Let's talk about some of the good things. Whose taken it in the
    mud
    snow
    sand
    etc
and what do you guys think of it? Maybe it isn't the most powerful truck but let's look at it for what it's been designed to do.

It definitely controls the throttle. The old ECT (Pre-2005) was transmission-only. The new ECT makes the throttle significantly more touchy / aggressive. It gives you the feel of the old style throttle bodies (well closer to it). It also makes the downshifting sportier and lets it engine brake.

I've had my '17 DCLB OR for about 5k miles... what i've found is that this is a truck that requires intentionality to get the response you want. I previously had a 5.7l hemi and that was a different, but not a better, truck. You can't feather the throttle and get a response in the tacoma - you have to put your foot down. Once you commit to driving like a complete and utter asshole :), the truck performs pretty well (considering it's intended use).

I would recommend driving it a few times before making up your mind that it is massively under powered.

that's good. i was wondering why people were saying they didn't when the throttle felt pretty twitchy to me when i tried ECT mode

I'm surprised they fit such a big transmission in there. Anyone want to help me pull out that engine and transmission, and drop it into a new tacoma?! That would make it a little race truck

Whats the status on a URD or some other manufacturer supercharger add on for the 3rd gen?

Anyone run the aFe mid side exit exhaust? If so, how do you like it?

Anyone running the URD Y-pipe for the 2016+ tacomas? If so, how do you like it?
