So my wife was picking up the kids from school today and a teacher was in a hurry to get out of the parking lot and nicked my front bumper. The damage is not bad, but hell the truck is brand new and I just hit a thousand miles on it. He was in a hurry and said if she wanted his insurance information he would give it to her tomorrow.

My question is can this just be touched up if I claim it or will they replace the bumper? Truck as was dirty from the storms, so I wiped it down and the water start freezing before I could take the phone.

    Thoughts?

I already have two or three of those on my front bumper just from debris while driving. This paint seems to chip very easily. Honestly I wouldn't even bother it's probably not worth to touch up paint. You're going to end up with worse than that in the next 6 months to a year anyhow most likely.

Half the time touch up paint looks worse anyway and would you seriously pull the entire front bumper just to repaint it for that one little chip and risk maybe the paint not matching again?

It can be touched up. Touch up paint can look good if you do it right, e.g wet sand and polish. What color was the car? It could just be paint transfer, which would come off with a dual action buffer, rubbing compound and a good pad.

I would just have him pay for the cost of the touch-up paint and be done with it...getting insurance involved may cause it to end on on the vehicle's history and probably not worth that. Just my $0.02 though.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
A teacher in a hurry to get out of a school parking lot? I hope they're a better teacher than they are a driver

It was a grey truck, after looking at it closer it is my paint that was missing. I might just go the touch up route.

Was thinking the same thing myself.
