Back into work tonight. Our work has officially transitioned to being armed. So as everyone else has worked 2 shifts in our new uniforms I was scrambling round to get everything set up. Completely new uniform except for the shoes.

My belt has gone from 8ish pounds to 20 something by the feel of it. And I also feel like a damn turtle sitting in this vest. I swear they bought one of the cheapest ones they could find.

 

Nothing quite like a cruiser pop... unless all the ammo is strictly accounted for.

 

Security?

 

University public safety.
Hold a security lisence in this jurisdiction, but I like to feel like I'm more than a "mall cop" haha.

Actually both our crown Vics are out of comission at the moment. (God damn pieces of shit)....so I'm currently cruising around in a ram 2500 long box....fun times.....real fun to watch me wiggle out of in this damn gear. Just slightly too high to not use the step. Real annoying.

 

Our campus pd was armed and cross sworn for city jurisdiction. Went to Special State Police Academy.

 

The state colleges are like that here. All the private in the state decide what they want to do. Some just hire the local police, others do what this place does. It's a toss up.
Just need to lose some more weight so I can join the actual police force. I'm bored out of my mind at this job.

 

1.5% semi-annual raise this week thanks to our (mostly useless) Union.

that's a possibility, but I'm not willing to throw a grand of my own at it. Just happy they paid for it and everything else at this point.

 

so, my next door neighbors house caught on fire just now. ive got 8 different fire engines, a heavy rescue, two chiefs cars on my lawn, and about 4 cop cars, and the gas&electric company just rolled up. Everybody made it out except the cat, and i think they resuscitated it.

 

The last union I was in didn't get us raises. Quarterly COLAs wich were not locked in. So they could and did take that COLA raise back on occasion. Outragous dues and all they did was try to tell me how to vote!

glad they made it out safe. Sad that many engines had to be there. hopefully the whole place hasn't burned to the ground.

 

That sucks, and the middle of winter. Anything not burnt will be frozen in until spring.

 

maybe I'll deal and ask for one for Christmas next year, haha. rather spend 1k on truck parts and deal with uncomfortableness 40 hours a week.

 

dosent seem to, the house is still standing, although they are currently in the process of gutting it since the entire structure was burning.

yeah, of all the days for this to happen, this was probably the best one. since it was freezing yesterday and will be freezing tomorrow. Just crazy. I was sitting in my room smelling a faint burning smell, i figured my brother had burned some food or something, walked out of my room right as he was walking back to ask me if i smelled that, i poked my nose out the door and saw the 10ft fireball coming out of thier roof and sprinted across to check and see if everybody made it out right as they were exiting the house.
