Little off topic here, but today is the first day I've had more than just coffee and a banana for breakfast in a long time. I got some Jimmy Dean sausage and egg english muffins last night and brought one to work. I see now why I've always felt so sluggish in the mornings.

One of the few things that isn't blowing smoke up your ass as a kid, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. I do a bowl of plain oatmeal with honey and some cinnamon in it every morning and it gives me energy and also jump starts my metabolism.

I've been steady hitting the gym since like...November. (Terrible time to start going, right?) Not long enough for me to expect great results, but I'm hoping this metabolism stuff will start working in my favor now if I start eating a good breakfast.

no such thing as a terrible time to start. I believe you started at a great time because it probably helped you "digest the holidays". I've been going to the gym for 4 years or so now and I can absolutely guarantee, results come from what you eat.

Why 12K winch? the rule of thumb is to have 1.5 times the weight of your vehicle due to possibly becoming vapor locked in mud causing the vehicle to have more resistance than it weighs. My truck Loaded down with RTT bed rack and everything is right at 5100lbs i have driven across the scales and had my truck weighed per axle. so if you need 1.5 times the weight then i need a 7500lb winch. i have a 9,000lb winch because i wanted a 20% safety factor. Where do i get my opinions? I am a licensed and Certified Crane operator I can run a load chart andhave enough knowledge on how to lift and winch. That being said any winch is better than no winch. Also buy a snatch block because if you are overheating your winch or are stuck in a serious hole that your winch cannot pull you out of. You can set the snatch block where you are trying to winch too and running the hook back to your bumper shackle point. This method is called Two-Parting your line it doubles the capacity of your winch line making it safer and easier on your winch. Your winch is at its strongest when it has the least amount of wraps or line on the winch.

That sounds pretty good. I will have to give that a try - adding it to the wifes grocery shopping list for Sunday. I'm one of the cliche' people that are trying to get in shape after the new year and I have been going to the gym ever morning to get in 30-40 minutes of cardio every day before work and my energy level is night and day compared to how it was before (for the better now).

it's delicious. I look forward to it every day so it doesn't feel like dieting. also, if you're doing cardio in the morning for the purpose of weight loss I've read that "fasted cardio" is the way to go. Go before you eat breakfast. It's horrible and miserable and sucks haha, but supposedly it kicks your body into like overdrive so it digests and uses what you put into it appropriately and quickly. I haven't done it for more than a couple days to verify for sure, but that's what I've read.

I am indeed going before I eat breakfast, but only because I feel miserable when doing cardio after eating (I didn't know there were other benefits of it). I lost 5.8 pounds my first week but I've went to the gym every day for the past 11 days - usually doing 30-45 minutes a day of cardio. I need to start mixing in some weight and resistance training in with the cardio but want to lose about another 12 pounds before getting to that point. I had gotten entirely too out of shape. When I started this I was up to 216 pounds at 5'10. Hope to get down to 200 by Valentines Day.

Hey I don't know, I just grazed through the thread. I'm not particularly in the market for one at the moment.

In case anyone wants a paraphrased version.

5.8 lbs in a week is awesome. You're definitely doing it right. We started a weight loss competition at work (by %) at 20$/person and so it's up to 340$. We weight in on April 3rd to see who wins. I started at 207lbs, 5'10". I've been powerlifting all winter just trying to get stronger so they started this at an inconvenient time for me, but I said heck why not get my weight loss in before summer this time. So my goal is about 10% which puts me down to about 185, and I hope to be shredded lol. It's hard because I just enjoy lifting heavy, so cardio and stuff is a struggle for me lol. Really want to maintain as much strength as possible while I lose weight.

Haha, I just started January 2nd and my work just announced yesterday they are doing a similar contest as yours... that starts February 1st. (INSERT ANNOYED FACE HERE). I may join just to keep me motivated during my journey. Ive set up some short and long term goals and my goal is to eventually get down to 180-185 by July. I know I'll likely see the highest percentage of my weight loss the first few weeks but I'm hoping the motivation stays with me over the next several months. The first few days of waking up an hour and 15 minutes earlier than I was previously in order to get to the gym and get a workout in before work was tough the first few days but already feels like part of my routine now and I feel better during the day now.
