It's for new purchases. Cannot buy an AR in CA now. If you already had it, you're OK for now. Next up is registration...

So, looking for the hive minds opinion on complete AR's. Looking in the $800 ish range, will be used for plinking only, no home defense or anything like that. Must be a Heavy Barrel, Non Folding stock to meet MD requirements

For those requirements you should be able to find an older DPMS Panther 16 or 20" bull barrel that will be very accurate and probably cost around $600. A 20" flattop with a fixed A2 stock was my first AR in ~1998 and it was insanely accurate. There are a bunch of options that would meet your requirements however. Have fun shopping!

Pick your state and then you'll see all the categories to choose from. The best FTF sales I have ever seen.
used LMT"s are an other great heavy barreled choice.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
All complete (fully functional) BB firearms must be in your possession prior to 1/1/17. You can still buy stripped lowers after 1/1/17 or Featureless/ARMagLock/Thordsen Stock/Monsterman Grips rifles after 1/1/17. And with the stripped lowers you can only build CA Compliant rifles with it like ARMagLock/Featureless/Thordsen/MMG. Also these cannot be registered as "Assault Weapons " as they were purchased after 1/1/17.

Anyone use a YHM Mod2 billet upper for a build yet. Bought one from OpticsPlanet for my 8.5in 300blk SBR but when if got to me it had a huge gash in the aluminum and lots of scratches. Already shipped back for an exchange for another, just wondering if anyone had used it yet?

I spend more time in this one at the moment since most of my latest builds have been in the platform. The "last thing you bought" thread is a pretty cool place to find/share deals as well.
I'm too broke to go into the 1911 thread.:(

Yankee Hill Machine is usually pretty good with their quality control and product function. You may have received a used one on accident, or was the package damaged? That certainly is atypical of them.

There was a slight break in the plastic it was wrapped in, but it was no where near where the gash was. The plastic seemed to be pretty thick, it had the YHM sticker on it. I shipped it back the day i got it, back on Dec. 23, did not get back to OpticsPlanet until Jan 9th, and now I have to wait longer because of course its return season :annoyed::facepalm:
Purchased it back on Dec. 9th, took forever because I payed with paypal, to cover my ass of course, but paypal wouldn't allow OP to ship until 2 of my 3 items were in stock, what a pain. And the anodizing was not what i expected compared to my JoeBobOutfitters spartan billet lower. I know, two different manufactures, but it just didn't feel right. I may just cerakote the whole build once everything is in.

American Quality is pretty good stuff. I've been shooting it for years. They're owned by Federal, so their quality standards are high. I don't shoot .223, I shoot 5.56 but I see deals on these occasionally.
