Doesn't the owners manual state not to warm up your vehicle? I swear I saw that somewhere. I try not too, but my son always yells at me for not getting the truck "warm enough" for him. Got to make the 10 year old happy!

Thanks man! The gray version ones are nice too. I've just personally always liked black wheels. I definitely love the look of these wheels. Unfortunately I don't have anymore at the moment, it's been raining a lot since I had them put on. I'll probably snap some more later and post them up.

To be honest, I haven't noticed anything but then again I didn't pay too much attention to it. I'm sure it affected my MPG but it's nothing major. If anything I can imagine losing 1MPG, nothing more. It's worth it! Haha IMO. This was all a huge reason I stuck with P rated tires.

This isn't the thread for us to continue this discussion but I will respond..
I don't need to go "test" it out. Ive driven 4 vehicles over 12 years of my life with Sdrive. 2 currently daily, ALL with the same characteristics. YES it allows you to control shifts, thats its purpose..
Understand I'm not disputing what the operators manual states.
What i'm saying is turn your brain off, throw it in sport shift, downshift into 1st and drive it like a stick (minus the clutch). I don't see or experience ANY difference than a stick except it WILL shift at max RPMS if you don't. (safety) I drive in sport mode on the highway even. And YES it will shift into 6th
As for city driving I'm not sure why anyone would want or need to even shift into 6th.. even 5th for that matter.. BUT you can..

    Go "test" it out..

I assume you have to start in S mode for this to work.

I tried shifting from D to S while it was in 6th gear. I shifted down to 5th and accelerated a bit and it up-shifted into 6th. I was only going around 65 when this occurred. This is where it normally up and down shifts on slight inclines on my drive to and from work. I can't believe it considered I was doing something stupid at 65 MPH.

believe what you'd like to believe. you can't force it to shift into a higher gear than it thinks it needs.

I'll sometimes warm it up for 5 mins or so, but more often than not, I just hop in and go. I've seen a lot of information saying that warming up causes unnecessary engine wear. To be honest though, I always used to warm up my vehicles for awhile as I had remote start and I never noticed any ill effects.

I understand and have experience as I stated in this. Your explanation just makes more sense. Wasn't quite sure what drwx was getting at.

Ill believe what I know and have experienced. Why would I want it to shift into a higher gear than is needed???
This is getting taken too literally, I KNOW its not like a manual tranny. Start your truck, throw it into "S" drop it to 1st and shift UP as needed and DOWN as needed. Its not that complicated..
    But I digress.

the point is that the truck won't let you shift to a higher gear than it thinks you need. shift it over to s5.. and just leave it there. the truck will do all of the up and down shifting without you ever touching the stick again.

if you moving the stick is shifting the gear, then either you are "shifting" at the exact same time the truck thinks it needs to shift OR you are shifting later than it thinks it needs to shift (more likely).

TL;DR.... the truck is going to shift into whatever gear IT thinks it needs based on the maximum gear number you give it...... not what YOU think it needs.

If you do that then leave it in "D".. what's the point.

There's a point to "S+" to mimic the sensation and characteristics of a manual tranny.
I want to stay in 2nd or 3rd gear in traffic instead of it shifting up to 4th or even 5th..
I wanna stay in 5th on the highway so i can pass without stomping on the gas and dropping a gear... OR dropping it to 4th LIKE a manual
Again, I digress and regret offering a solution to the dreaded auto tranny issues.

Bring on the sema rims and kO's..

it is what it is.. it's useful to me for downshifting on mountain grades and staying off the brakes.

also, if you are in 5th on the highway and mash it, it's likely going to drop down to 4th gear. it isn't going to hold 5th gear. you also cannot lock it to 2nd gear to prevent spinning tires when starting out on slippery conditions.

Bought in November. 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road. Love the truck.

Here is a few of the new items on it.

First I got a cap on it. It is a Leer100r with Windoor sliders and a removeable front window. I also have a power block on the left with three D.C. Power plugs.

Next I put the T4R TRD Pro wheels on with 265/70/17 Cooper STT Pros. I do not want to much lift and definitely did not want to lose power without re gearing.

Next I had headrest DVD players installed for my two kids for the long trips out west and south for camping and exploring. Keeping kids happy longer keeps me traveling further.

I currently have an Icon stage 4 sitting in the garage to install. My garage space has become none existent. I may have my local garage do the work.

I have CBI sliders and a PrinsuDesign cab and cap rack on order.

Future plans are an SSO slim front bumper with winch. The rear I haven't decided if I want a rear tire swing again. I had one on my 80 series and it was great to have the spare there. Annoying to get in the back of truck. Still undecided I suppose. I also am looking at skid coverage.
