The people I have seen who do it only have the intention of exploring AK. They only have a few days or a week, so they make the most of it instead of spending the time driving up. Plus saves miles on the vehicle/possible break downs on the way up.

I kinda miss my 12s, although that was 5 to 6 days a week.

It does kinda get old. Nice part of having field work as well.

That's why I am fighting to stay hourly.

That's fair I guess. Canada is too cool to pass up though.

Yea 12s are standard in your field. I did 12s 7 days a week minimum in Alaska. Though was usually 14s. Granted there's nothing to do there but work. Literally haha

Always wanted to check out Alaska. While I'm in the office I usually do 8-10 depending how I feel. We are on a OT watch so if I hit OT I just leave early on Friday but still on call 24/7.

Our shop guys are 12s, but while I'm in the field its your up until the job is done. You get some moments to sneak away for a nap, or if you have a 2nd guy there you can swap and get some rest but if its just you then 36 hours straight is not unheard of.

Sucks, but man were the paychecks nice.

Yea paychecks are great hahain prudoe bay they have hour limits of 18 I think now for safety. I hit that a few times which is funny cause it's always light out so it's weird. Haha

Kuparaka though you can do 22s. And guys do it back to back all the time.

Fuuucckk that. Lifes to short to waste a whole day working. I'll put in extra hours when required but if it can get done the next day, I'll be leaving soon as I hit my 8 hours.

I had an opportunity to work up there for a summer, but they canceled the program. Would have been a sweet experience.

Naw, worth it. Bust your ass and get the job done in 43 hours and you get the rest of the week off without using vacation.

A view always helps, Ihave a decent one of the mountains even though my office sucks lol.

See we don't really need approval for OT most the time. If we are on a job its understood its going to happen. IF its office stuff then we just try to avoid it.
Thats awesome you get bonuses, we are supposedly getting ours reinstated in the next month or so.

I miss having my 4runner to play with, but being debt free is honestly so much of a breather right now that I don't mind it. Make me want to just get a older model rig to play with rather then buying something newer.

    well that sucks.

Yep, it is possible to get things turned around and still be good for the position. May just take additional work and requesting an audit.
