Dayton Timberline A/T or General Grabber A/T or Firestone Dest. A/T?

I'm looking between the three listed. I can get the Dayton Timberline A/T's for $115 a tire locally. Have you had experience with them? I can order the Grabber's but then shipping and mounting will cost. I also like the Firestone A/t's but haven't quoted them. What do ya'll think I should do. Don't want to spend a whole lot but want a good tire. I'm going to get them in 30X9.5 15. Thanks!

 

New to the board, anyways I bought the General Grabbers because it was the top rated tire on Tire Rack and Consumer Reports. I installed myself and the sidewalls are soft which made for a great ride. I had a 98 Tacoma that rode pretty harsh until I put those on.

 

Had the Firestone Destination A/T and went to the General Grabber A/T. Personally, I prefer the Grabbers. The handling of the truck became easier, rides a little smother, and better in the offroad capacity as well. Road noise is a little higher (but that's why they make a volume knob for the radio) but not outrageous.

 

I seriously contemplated buying some Grabbers because I really like the tread and they have received really good reviews, but after looking at the tires actual weight, I backed off. My stock Dunlop AT20's weigh in at roughly 36 lbs each...same size in AT2's are 57lbs.

 

Yeah, but it is 57lbs. of pure ass kickery.

I will gladly give that weight for the added traction I get with these tires. I have had BFG's before, and the AT2 is wicked awesome. PURE ASS KICKERY!!!!!

I ended up with Cooper Zeon LTZ's with equal Ass Kickery.

 

What's the treadwear on the cooper's & at2's?

 

AT2's, I think, are 60K and the Coop's are 50K.

 

The problem with the Coop's is size. They don't offer a tremendous selection. Their website sucks for information, too. The tire, however, is awesome both by my personal account and the online reviews. The full-size crowd absolutely LOVE them!

Tread depth is about 14 vs the AT2's 16. The 57lbs for the stock 265/65/17's is too heavy in my opinion. The Coops in my size of 285/60/18 are only 50 by comparison. Make no bones about it, the Grabbers are first rate, though.

 

Well I printed out the page from tire rack and took it to wal-mart and they will match the price on the grabber's ($103/tire) and they got on to order them and they won't be avaiable till April!!!! So I'm not sure what to do!

 

I believe I'll just order the Grabber's and wait on them. I don't know what walmart will charge as far as shipping etc. Any experiece with ordering tires through walmart?

 

I hate ANYTHING Wal-Mart related. Good luck, though.

i've had the timberline a/t's for a lil over a year now and i been quite impressed with them. only been stuck once since in that time and they seem alot more stable that the factory dunflops. ride is incredibly smooth and quiet. best part im still getting 17-18 mpg with 267/75's
