Fox Racing makes the suspension and Rigid makes the fog lights. Most everything else is TRD.

Well that answers that. I would just Amazon list out the "added features." If you got a buddy who is handy with a wrench, then I would take some notes on their custom builds for inspiration and then bolt them on yourself!

What dealership did you go to? I just picked up a Tacoma at Camelback Toyota and they treated me very well.

Help a brother out please and thank you!

2017 Taco TRD Off Road or Sport 4x4 or what?

I want it to look bad ass -- but I dont want to get ripped off. Only so many dealers in the area.

I like the hood scoop. I like the black out steel grill. I want lighting upgrades. I want great suspension.

All the dealers I got a quote from around here put me at MSRP or $200 under for a MT in cement. If you like the pro, dont limit yourself to your local geographic area. One way plane tickets are cheap.

Good call on this, don't many in CA go to neighboring states just to get their rides? Could make for a fun road trip too!

Isn't it bad to travel long distance during break in period?

Wont get great suspension with a dealer preload. Unless you go to Riverview Toyota where they do Icon lifts on a lot of their trucks.

Not at all, just vary your speed and rpms and don't tow for the first 500 miles I think it is but double check that figure.

That's what it is, not traveling at a CONSTANT speed long distance. Bingo!

Yeah the finance guy told me not to use the cruise control on the long drive home. Icey road conditions prohibited me from doing that anyway.

If you want a 2017 TRD Pro, better get your deposit in asap. If a dealer isnt getting an allocation in now, you might have to wait for the 2018.

Ok, found a dealer willing to work with me and only doing 2500 premium charge.

    My choice now is:

    1. 4Runner TRD Pro for 46,770 (includes 2500 premium. ) plus taxes, misc. fee, etc. not included.
    2. Tacoma TRD Pro for 46,200 (includes 2500 premium.) plus taxes misc. fees, etc. not included.
    3. Figuring out the differences between a TRD OR 4x4 or TRD SR 4x4 and going my own way paying custom shops to aftermarket things like suspension, hood scoop, grill, lift, wheels, etc.

Options 1 and 2 look attractive but I have not driven it yet - so concerned about putting a deposit on something I have never driven.

Option 3 allows me more flexibility in price on stock vehicle and the cost of mods as I go.

I only have max of about 6 weeks before I need the vehicle.

Options 1 and 2 are going to get pre-sold quick if I dont put down deposit ASAP.

Then i'll be stuck with Option 3.

I don't want to willingly choose option 3 and then come out in the long run with something that I can afford to keep modding.

Dude I would at a minimum go somewhere and atleast get a test drive. Would suck to make a gut call on one and feel like you made the bad choice. I doubt if you drove a base model Tacoma and 4runner that they would be too different from the PROs, but more info is better than none.

I know Camelback recently had a white PRO priced at $48k+ with no apparent additional items added to it. So at least with that trim they are trying to milk it. They probably know they can't get away with that on other trims....

My humble opinion - if you want a Pro, the 4Runner is the way to go. If you want the taco - get the OR, upgrade the suspension for a few extra grand and you won't regret it.
