I just bought my first Toyota. Looking to put a lift kit on it. It currently has 17" wheels and tires but I plan on replacing the wheels with TUFF A.T. T01, and 265-70-16 BF Goodrich KO2 tires.

I'm concerned the tires will stick out past the factory fenders with the 10mm off set wheels??
Also looking for any recommendations on brand and type of lift kit to buy and where to buy it.
    Any help for this rookie?
    Thanks

^^^ That FTMFW.... need to go negative offset to stick out beyond the stock fender. I have the same size tire with -6 offset and they are just barely sticking out past the fender maybe 1/2"

For lift.... what type of off roading do you wanna do?

Probably won't do a lot of crazy off roading. Moderate off roading for now.

I wouldn't go 3" for moderate off roading.... you need UCAs and the higher you go the pricing gets higher as well.... instead of $1200 for say Bilsteins and springs and Icon progressive AALs with billly's @ ~ 2" getting up to your 3" is going to cost you likely x2 at least.

Why go down to 16" wheels you're going to loose 1" ?? So if you go 3" lift you will only get 2" due to the smaller diameter wheel.

I kept the 17" wheel size on my Sport with -6 offset... I'm happy...

The tire size was something I was told by my salesperson. He said the off road models had a different size tire and wheel. Which is the 265-70-16. Like I said, I'm no genius on all the intricate ins and outs off installing lift kits and tires etc. I can check on the actual size of the tires. They might be the same overall height.

Saying moderate offroading isn't a great description. What you consider moderate may be very different than what someone else may consider moderate.

What? The tires overall are the same size

The same size tire and wheel in 16" vs 17" wheel is 1" taller with 17" wheel. Sidewall size is the same but its wrapped around a taller wheel making the combo taller.

Don't know why Toyota did a 17" wheel on the Sport and 16" on the OR? The Limited I think has 18" wheels.... thinking out loud on the limited tho.

So a 2" lift for me with 17" wheels I'm at 3" above a stock OR or a Pro for that matter.
Go Pro Bro or go home bro, just sayin...

Depends on the aspect ratio. The 265/70R16's he's looking at are the same as the stock 265/65R17's that come on the Sport. Either would look weird with a full 3" lift though.

Check out TW's own tire size calculator. It might clear things up for you, if you're interested. Doesn't matter the wheel size. You don't lose or gain height based on wheel size. The tire size is what counts.

Yes same tire on a 16" or a 17" wheel, the 17" combo will be 1" taller.. do the calculator.... it tells you there and you can see a side by side...

You're missing the point. Saying dropping to a 16" rim will decrease the tire size isn't accurate. Sure if the op switched to a 265/65R16, it'd be smaller but he specifically mentioned the 265/70.

I basically have the 3" Pro comp kit with their monotube shocks, and SPC Uppers, ride is stiff at first but has gotten softer in the past 2 weeks.. I also have my sway bar disconnected as well.

I'm missing YOUR point.... my point is this... why not stay with the 17" rim get tires the size he wants ... the 17" wheel and tire combo will be 1" taller than that SAME combo with a 16" wheel....

Still won't look great on a 3" lift.... which is also my point for the tire size the OP wants and lifted... trying to get him the tallest setup... then go 2" lift. Gonna be a lot less hassle in the long run and look better. Performance with remain almost the same.

3" lift with 16" tires in a 265-70 is going to look a little too bro "for me"..just sayin.

Buy my TRD Off Road Bilstiens with 2" lift spacers and 5 brand new 265 70 16 Goodyear Kevlar tires ;) Bam... u got lift and great all terrains. Just add rims and enjoy :) I'll even throw in a factory TuRD off road skid plate, but you'd have to drive to Tulsa to get them.

Factory tire size on the TRD off road is 265 70 16. They use the smaller rim and taller tire sidewall because it's better off road. The tire sidewalls have the ability to flex more and protect the rims better when aired down. Larger rim size with shorter sidewalls is better for on road handling. Putting a 2" lift on the front of a TRD off road truck just levels the truck out, and it actually looks pretty good. You cannot go 3" on the 3rd gen without putting the front in a bind. they sit 1" higher from the factory than the gen2 already.

Maybe I'm misreading this, are you saying Bilstein's with coils and AALs is $1200?
