Power Tailgate Lock

No it's not.

 

Did mine yesterday. It's not prewired. I went Green to Blue and red to green using the top right white connector in the passenger foot well. Got it wired up and the lock button unlocked the tailgate and vice versa. Switched the bullet connectors and all is good.

 

The vid is great. Thanks. Hope to do it this weekend (if the temp goes above 20!)

Did mine also and video instructions are backwards on the wires. Swapped the wires and worked perfectly.

 

As I understand things, this is a "port install" option meaning it's done at SouthEast Toyota's distribution point before the trucks go to the dealers. I suppose a dealer could do it, but I don't know that you'd gain any benefit from doing so now that you have the truck vs. buying and installing your own.

Especially since it's probably be the MSRP of $259 or more. I got mine essentially at invoice of $175 which was more palatable.

 

Yes the video is great except make sure you go green to green and blue to red. In the vid it is indeed reversed.

Bumping this post. I don't know anything about electronics, but I do have a blank switch spot. I think the pop N lock would get me everything I need, but I just don't know how I wire it to a switch.

After going through ALL of this.... Is this the method that only unlocks the tail gate when you unlock the all the other doors (two hits on the thob) and NOT when you just unlock the drivers door?

Yea, I think you will have to wire it to the driver's side if you want to do that.

 

I have my truck set up to where one press unlocks everything.

I want a switch where toggle or push unlocks tail gate, then opposite toggle or push locks the tailgate.

I went to the drivers side like the factory accessory instructions said, but I don't see a 10 pin connector at the top like they are showing
Anyone go to the drivers side instead and know what connectors to splice to?

 

Mine was exactly like the picture in the factory instructions.

 

Unless I'm missing something, the plug on the drivers side kick panel isn't a 10 pin connector and looks nothing like the instructions.

Anyways No big deal just went to the other side like the video...but I got everything connected, green to green blue to red and I get nothing
Double checked the connectors and all the other connections.
I don't have a meter so I can't test it
Any idea why it's not working

 

Twist the quick connect clampy things around the wire a bit. Sometimes they don't cut through the insulation.

Also, which instructions are you using? There's more than one set of them floating around.

 

Popped in the pop and lock on my 2017 SR5 and it went well. Went in via grommet by front passenger seat, spliced connections to green and red wires on black connector behind passenger kick plate, green to darker green and blue to red and soldered them in for permanency. Also siliconed the grommet entry point. Got all of the ideas and tips from this thread. Thanks to everyone for their tips! Works awesomely!! Also, people complain about how loud it is, but it doesn't seem terrible to me. Sounds heavy duty. I kinda like it!

Oh and one other thing that I did, not that it's relevant to this thread, but I removed the "V6" emblem from tailgate. Looks cleaner now.

 

anyone know a way to make it more silent?
