Probably landscapes and night shots. ill be using it and breaking it in on my honeymoon down in Patagonia so yea anything to do with nature mainly. I liked the price point and the fact that most of the reviews stated that it took pretty good night shots.as much as id love to have wifi or something else like that, I think I can live without those bells and whistles. also, its "weather resistant" for whatever that's worth. I was originally looking into one of the canon or Nikon ones but I could probably afford an extra lens for the price of this one. I had a pentax waterproof (point and shoot) a couple of years ago that I liked also.

Have you considered Fujifilm? The Pentax will have longer battery life and faster AF in a loving subject by a hair. But other than that the Fuji will be smaller and better for pretty much everything else ha.

Sorry I don't know that much about Pentax. If I was going to be shooting nightscapes and landscapes mostly I'd definitely pick up a full frame body. I'm sure the Pentax does ok but typically the high megapixel crop bodies struggle with noise at higher ISOs. Have your looked into the Canon 6D? It does really great at night and there are some awesome Canon wide angle lenses.

I'm driving up North to Pinnacles NP this weekend to shoot. Here's what I'm bringing.

Fits in a tiny camera bag and weighs a few lbs. Focus peaking is money, wifi is great, live view EVF is phenomenal, external dials make life super easy. I'll never shoot a DSLR again. Dinosaur poop. Haha

EDIT: well that link didn't work. Fixing it now.

If I was strictly landscape I'd most likely be shooting a XT-2.

I shoot landscape and wildlife so I like the long fast glass and super robust AF/drive system.

I see used but like new XT-1 models with a few thousand shutter clicks for $550. Some people like to buy new, but I typically always buy second hand gear

I usually don't buy from Craigslist and places like that. I always purchase my gear from Fred Mairanda forums. There is a section on the forums where you buy and sell gear. It has a feedback system, so you build a reputation by buying and selling gear. The ads have a rating scale and people most often post pics. You can definitely get a good feel for what your getting into. I have probably 60 transactions on there and haven't been burned by a piece of gear or person.

I've bought about 80% of my gear used. Never had a single issue. Finding the right person to buy from is key.

Coincidently, I'm about to sell that X-T1 pictured above. Once the X-T2s go on sale I'll be picking up a couple so if you want my X-T1 let me know ha.

If I went mirroless id hands down do the Sony a7s ii. Amazing camera and tiny.

But not cheap and glass isn't either.

Best night camera out there IMO. and great video.

I shot indoors with one at 8000-12,000 ISO and it kicked ass. Looked amazing.

What camera? First one almost looks like star trails, the second appears more like stuck pixels / noise from long exposure. 10 seconds should be enough time for that on most cameras.

yea but the sony is like a 3-7000 dollar investment..haha

So hardly a choice for most.

But it is amazing. Can handy low light like nothing else. There are videos out there where its shot at 20,000-35,000iso at 4k with NO light other then the Moon. And looks great.

    Pretty impressive camera.
