If it's not past the weather strip like it shows in your picture... it's normal.

If you don't believe us... get in and have some spray the shit out of the side of the truck. If you don't get wet, your good!

@oneshort Look at where the door makes contact with the weather stripping on the cabin and door sill. It looks to me that there's a "Tacoma" door sill protector that's been added to the door sill. It's plastic to water will pool on it differently than if it were a painted surface. Also, the door sill goes up and under the hard plastic runner that's there. It forms a lip that it snaps into and there's a channel there for wiring and such. As long as water isn't getting in there (which I'm 100% sure it isn't) it'll be fine.

Did that come from your foot getting into the truck?

Yes, mine is a 2016 but it's not a Tacoma. Please see vehicle details to the left and under my information.

I'm going to make some honest suggestions and take it for what it's worth. If you're going to come to an enthusiast forum and ask a question which is answered by a handful of people, please don't go make a statement that you'll let us know after Toyota tells you it's normal. You've just wasted our time and patience. If you're intent was to take it to Toyota and ask their opinion, you should have done so in the first place.

Second. Crawl around your truck and see how the door contacts the weather stripping, ensure the door is closed and spray it with a hose then check to see if water is indeed getting past the weather stripping. If so, then you have a legitimate issue. Had these steps been taken, I doubt we would be having this conversation.

We're talking about door sills here smitty... not oneshort... :anonymous:

Edit: just reread... punctuation is key here!

At first glance, yes. Now I don't know if they may have redesigned the seals in the 3rd gen where this could be normal. I also haven't been driving around in it; It's been sitting in the parking lot all day at work. If that could make a difference on how/where water can intrude.

My Tacoma sees a decent amount of off road miles. It sees a LOT of highway miles. And I'm OCD about cleaning it. So.....LOTS of car wash time. And when I'm done washing, it gets dried. This probably happens on average of 4 times a week. I use a synthetic chamois. EVERY time I dry it, I have to dry the door sills and jambs if I want them clean and dry. A simple spray down at the car wash gets these areas wet. So NOT a surprise when a day of sitting in the rain finds the same areas wet....I don't need an engineer from corporate Toyota to tell me that. YMMV.

Yes and I can see this thread going somewhere.. and by somewhere their might be a ram air BH involved.

MY door sills have too much salt and mud on them to make me even look and/or worry about it.

Maybe I'll step in some dog poop before I get in the truck... take truck to Toyota dealer and demand them to clean the floor mats for me ... ??? yes - no? Just sayin...

OP completely normal bro... drive truck have fun... arrrrr.

It is in between the first and second weather stripping.
The drain holes for the door are on the exterior side of the first weather stripping and not above the door sill where OP is seeing water collect. The water OP is seeing is between the first seal (on the door) and the second seal (around the cab opening)
