I have an 07 yota i4 5spd base with 2016 trd coil overs and struts.

Can't find anything on this topic

Everything bolts right up and adds 1,25inch of lift in the front. It levels it out perfectly and rides so much smoother. It handles turns a lot better. It rides much better than stock.

I put 2016 TRD OR shocks and coils on my 2015 SR5 and love it!

I only got 1" of lift from them. Perfect for me.

i left the back alone, the back sits almost an inch higher than the front. In my book it's a perfect set up, it still aligned into spec and the front suspension components aren't at any harsh angles. Great daily driver set up though

This is very interesting. So about 1" lift on a 2nd gen DC 4x4 up front with 3rd gen coils/shocks? This is TRD only?

I always thought 2nd and 3rd gen suspension was more or less the same.

it bolts up the same. The ride height is different. I'm not sure if the 2016 stock and trd have a different ride height.

I see, so if I score a 3rd gen take offs, just unbolt old, bolt on new and go for alignment? Expect some lift, up to 1" on DC 4x4?

I need to search if non TRD suspension is different ride height unless someone here know. Looks like coils are longer on 3rd gen providing slight lift, correct?

I was planning on OME 883s with 1/4 taco lean spacer and 5100 @ 0 for about 1" of lift. Curious about which would be better way to go. TRD take offs should be cheaper, but probably not by that much...

The 3rd gen coils are 1" longer than the 2nd gens. Also, the TRD OR Coils springs have a higher spring rate (717 lbs I think).

    That makes sense then, but are you sure about 717 lbs? I believe stock 2nd gen are either 540 or 560 , OME 883, 884, 885 & 887 are 590, Eibach are either 600 or 625, 886 are 660.

I think it's 710 lbs, but yeah, they're significantly heavier coil weights than second gen.

I got mine for free, and the realistic going rate for 2016/2017 take off suspension is $150-200 max. Coils are $170-180, so depending on whether or not you already have the 5100s and lean spacer then you're likely better served finding take offs.

No I don't have anything yet, saving to purchase 883s and 5100's shortly. I guess if I come across cheap take offs that would be a good alternative, otherwise I'll stick to my plan. Thanks for all the answers.

Being in Canada it might be cheaper still.

You can place a WTB (want to buy) ad in the second gen and third gen marketplace and list your location and see what pops up. That aside, I'm far happier with my OME setup than with the previous 5100s/AAL setup, the ride is vastly improved, unsurprisingly, performance is as well.

If I had to do it over again, I'd use 5100 shocks instead of the OME shocks.

717 coil weight on a 2nd gen with no plate bumper/winch etc together with 8 ply D tires (will go to C Duratracs within a year though) sound like a lot to be honest. Maybe I would be happier with OME/5100s. I will still be on the lookout for OEM takeoff just in case. For the right price...

The shocks are valved differently to compensate for the heavier coil rates.

I have some 2016 take offs in my garage that I'm going to be installing sooner or later, I'll let you know how it feels when I do.

Thanks, seems like a solid alternative then.

Awesome, will be interested to hear how you like them.

So there is a set of front shocks/coils and rear shocks local to me for $400 CAD (approx. $300 USD) before negotiation. These are the blue Hitachi ones. Is this the TRD ones or non TRD. Is this the set we are discussing here? I want my 1" lift damn it! I know I'll go search TW now. :crapstorm::oops::D
