Has anyone done a front and rear diff gear change? How did it affect the computer? Any negative effects from the electronics and such?
I was thinking about going to 4.88 ish gears. For one, I hate the double over drive, and would rather it rev higher all the time. The other reason is because I'm on 33's now, and would like to gain power back, and may go to 35's at some point if I can cut enough to make them fit. But even if I don't do that, I'd like the truck to run at higher RPM's.
    Any input?

Thanks! Forgive my ignorance, but does that actually alert him to this thread, or should I message him separately?

Did not affect anything but more drivable truck. Truck runs way better, better gas mileage. You actually get to use fifth and six gear.
4.88s is the best think you can do for your truck and sanity.

I'd probably jump on the thread listed above, as all that info is over there, and I don't have any answers yet. I'm still over there reading myself. I would go deeper than 4.88 if I could find it though.

Gears does not change anything with the speedo.
    Only tire size. I'm running a 295 70 17((33.5) about 5mph off at 65.
Speedo says 60 but actual is 65.
    Less mileage on the odometer.:dancingbacon:

Every gear I have ever changed in my mustangs have changed the speedo. Why is this any different? Where is the speedo getting its info from?

Sensor is in the wheel spacer(?).
I'm no expert on how but I know for a fact that gears did not affect speedo. I use a my handheld Garnin gps.

Yea ok will have to do some research and find out. Wonder how 4.88's would be with 265/75/16 tires. I really don't want my truck much higher than it is.

If you tow like I do, I bet it would be great. I'm only guessing though. I couldn't have been more disqusted with the way it towed on my bigger tires. It was a deal breaker for me. Either I re-gear, or re-truck.

The speedo reads off the rear wheel speed sensors, so the gears do not affect the reading.
