'17 6mt with 4k miles. Been rolling around for 4 months now and never had a delayed ignition. If I were trouble shooting it I would do the following

    1) attempt to start it with the clutch out in neutral and while holding the key in the crank position press the clutch in. If it cranks my first guess would be the sensor that detects the clutch is pressed down is not getting triggered when you experience the delays, for whatever reason - could be faulty sensor, could be you aren't pressing it in far enough, etc. This may not result in anything though because the system might be setup such that if the sensor isn't tripped initially when the key is turned it won't work until the key is backed off and tried again.
    2) do some tests with the clutch start cancel and see if you also get a delay. I recommend you put it in neutral for these tests contrary to what you normally do. I always crank in neutral personally.

Haven't had the issue either ('17 w +/- 4Kmiles), but I always start it in Neutral as I'm going to let it warm up anyways.

If I remember to start in gear I'll post any findings...

At about 10k, my 2016 6MT had intermittent issues with this, then suddenly would not start at all, even with my clutch pedal jammed all the way into the carpet. Pressing the clutch start cancel switch allowed the truck to start. Dealership replaced the start switch (a cheap looking black box with a white button- probably a .29 cent part) and it had no issues- until recently. Defective start switches are apparently not that uncommon. It's a relief to know you can still start the truck with the clutch start cancel switch pressed, but IMO it shouldn't be this way.

that's interesting and i'm glad to know it. i'll watch for this as well. for now things are pointing to the floor mat preventing clutch pedal engagement... haven't had the issue since reseating the mat and pressing all the way down on the pedal. but i'm not convinced yet, still watching.

I use to have a delay as well. It was due to a worn key.

Now I'm having a different problem. Lately I've had to mash harder and harder on the clutch pedal in order to get the truck to crank. I'm even having to press down with my right, dominant, leg now. Hoping it's just the 350z floor mats I have there.

two MT drivers have been recently diagnosed from this symptom. the cause in both cases was a Husky Weatherbeater floormat holding back actuation of the clutch sensor for the ignition. not sure if this is your problem but looks like the solution is the same.
