Ha ha ha.yes. Very familiar with Google. My sister works there. Google is great for finding business that buy ad space with them. If Google were the be all end all for pertinent info, none of us would actually be members here at TW. Google doesn't give responses such as "yeah, I saw one in a pawn shop the other day," or "my buddy is deploying and needs to sell his quick," or "there's a great shop about an hour from you that doesn't do online sales."

Nailed it. Google is great, but not the best reference tool for everything.

Before I get blown up for not googling my question, I have.. I've also watched a few videos and such, but figured I'd ask anyway.

Anyone here ever re-blued a rifle? I've got an interesting referb job sitting at home currently, Stock is completed, but the barrel is giving me difficulties. To make this even better the only manual I could find on the damn thing, took me to very dark dusty attic spaces on the interwebs.

If I can't get the thing completely disassembled, is that a big deal when I go to re blue it?

First off, are you planning on hot or cold bluing, and does the gun have any silver solder/brazing on the parts that you're rebluing?

Cold, using Birchwood Casey blueing kit.

I don't believe it does. I can post up some photos of area around the receiver that I'm concerned about, when I get home from work. It appears to have push pins, but some where in its unknown history they appear to have been permanently fixed into the rifle.

For cold bluing it shouldn't matter about the silver solder. I just wanted to ask because hot bluing will eat away at silver solder or brazing, which would be an unpleasant surprise for you.

Fixed how? Can you see if they've been soldered, epoxied, etc? Or maybe rusted in place, lol? I don't know if there's really any way to lock pins into a gun without something to adhere them in place, unless they've been massively deformed. :notsure:

Deformed, like someone bashed them in with a heavy mallet and mushroomed the one side.

Now I could be completely wrong though, I've never worked on a .22 this old.
