Yes, it's really bad here at times. Not always, but sometimes. Still, we have the responsibility to not hit the person ahead of us.

Only real solution for it is to remain hyper-aware and do your best to anticipate. At least with a dash cam you may have a chance if you're doing what you can on keeping a following distance and someone cuts in then slams on the brakes.

That's how I totaled my first car. On the highway in heavy traffic entering a construction zone. Car in front of me cut in and locked up. No citation, no points.

Normally, accidents occur when someone does something wrong. Typically two cars going down the road without breaking any laws or rules of the road don't collide.

Look at this way, it sucks getting involved in a crash. Right? Lost time from work, being without your wheels, injuries, etc. When someone violates a rule of the road and puts you, through no fault of your own, in that position, couldn't a ticket be in order?

There is a trend in the industry to stop calling them accidents and call them crashes instead. It may be semantics, but the term accident tends to indicate that they just happened with no fault or blame to be assigned.

A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
Yes you are right and what a nightmare it has been even after a not at fault accident. After the insurance found out the accessories totaled more than $20,000 they started trying to back pedal and say they were not paying dollar for dollar, but instead just the value it increased of the truck. So just because the invoice totaled $20k they might only pay six. I just laughed and said ok then everything is coming off the truck.

Can't remember the last parking ticket I've received. They were ordinance violations though or something similar, not crimes.

I was written a ticket in my own fuckin driveway. Cop was following me and pulled onto my street after I was already in my driveway, still wrote me a ticket. Went to fight it said I was already parked on my own property, judge said it didn't matter because the officer wrote it as side of the road. Never even had his lights on, just as I got out of the car got out of his and started talking to me.

and it was for a bullshit ticket supposedly running a red when it was a red light camera and I turned left on a yellow (already in the intersection) and had dashcam video to prove I didn't run the red. Ticket was thrown out, but I started my defence with the fact I was written a ticket on private property. Video got me off the ticket but ya...doesn't matter.

I get them at least twice a month lol.
A lot of times I'll just be running into a store to pick up an order or something and don't bother paying. All the parking lots near said places are bullshit minimum charge of like $5. I take my chances. Figure for every 10 times I park I don't get a ticket lol.

Also I don't bother paying anymore since parking enforcement here are ABSOLUTE fucking assholes. I've been in parking lots that are pay parking and paid and they still write you a ticket as time expired.

Seriously had one write me a ticket when I had 15 minutes left on my time, saw him and asked how he wrote that his reply was 'I don't care I have a quota to meet'

Fortunately I infrequently need to park anywhere with paid parking. I've heard lots of horror stories about the private contractor handling city of Atlanta's parking though.

It's really funny when you can read someone's story of an accident and see through their bullshit. Just own up to the fact that you smacked this guy because you were following too close.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
In Missouri the State Highway Patrol does NOT have a "accident report" page. They do however have a "Crash report page" Don't believe me? check it out! Google --"MSHP crash reports"
I asked them about this one time several years back, and it was explained there was no such thing as a " vehicle accident" --THERE IS ALWAYS A CAUSE! Somebody or something (deer?) caused the "crash"

That's absolutely nothing. Get the parts from a body shop (remember plenty of clips, they break often). Have a mechanic drop in a new radiator. Probably fix a few hoses, and order some new lights if they've been shattered. Fortunately your car is new, so you can justify the work. Not to mention it doesn't sound like your engine was impacted at all.

I would think his ins. co. would repair the truck, not the OP.

If the OP's truck is financed, he is required to have collision insurance as he doesn't 'own' the truck yet, the lending company does.... The lending co. wants that truck repaired, more than the OP does ;)

    UPDATE

Truck is at the body shop now and the damage was mostly cosmetic. The front bumper support took most of the impact and did it's job.

Here is a list of what has to be replaced:
    Hood
    Fenders
    Front Bumper
Top part of the radiator support
    Headlights
    Fog Lights
Windshield (had a spider crack that split across the windsheild)
    A/C Condenser
    Power Steering Cooler
    Transmission Cooler
    Misc other stuff

All in all about $9k in damage. It's all being replaced with OEM Toyota parts, and the best part is they agreed to order a Sport Hood instead of the regular one.

The frame is still perfect, and they'll go ahead and do an alignment check and re-align if necessary.

Have you considered seeing if you can get a SSO or C4 or other winch bumper? From your pics it looks like a chance the bumper cover damage is limited to the parts that get cut away to mount one of those...
