It only does it while up shifting. It does the normal hard down shift while coming to a stop but what I'm referring to is generally always going from 2nd to 3rd.

Ok, that is definitely something I would look to a different dealer to analyze.

If that is the case, I would say it is normal, as it's using engine braking to help you come to a stop.

Why are you guys making such a big deal about this? Just take it somewhere else.

Its a business. They have the right to refuse service to anyone. It's their loss of money

Take your truck to Autoway Toyota in St. Pete. They fixed my Hugh pressure fuel pump, no questions asked. They seem like decent folks even though I am not a fan of Autoway

Drain and fill plugs. That's why sealed was in quotes. Using the dealerships excuse as hyperbole.

Yes, BUT they are a business that warrantied a product against defect and malfunction. They are basically refusing to honor their warranty. That's a problem. In this case they *dont* have the right to refuse service to anyone.

(But I definitely recommend going elsewhere if you have an option. Sounds like they have their heads up their ass.)

No its Toyota that warranties the product, and that warranty is good at thousands of other dealerships. Best way to hurt them is to not patronize their store. Problem solved, drama averted, move on

I can't recall doing very many surveys for service departments.

Hell maybe my local dealer doesn't want to know...

He bought the truck through their dealership. He got the warranty through their dealership. Plain and simple. He has every right to be pissed about that. Not sure what good it does to not complain about a service department. Its called reviewing so others are aware.

Dealerships LOVE when you call Corporate Toyota and BITCH!!!! My dealer wanted to jerk me around when I was having the well known R to D problem. Called Corporate and told them my Issues I was having with my truck and my dealer. The lady at HQ I talked to was VERY unhappy with my Toyota dealer and how I was treated. The dealer no longer beats around the brush. definitely worth making a call to HQ.

Update just in case anyone else is having a issue as well. After much arguing and arm twisting the transmission fluid was finally checked and found to be a quart and a half low which wasn't a surprise. Headed to pick it up now fingers crossed this is the end of this ridiculous journey.

Or that's what they want you to do. GM at least I learned a few yrs back would lose about $30 per hr doing warranty work versus paid work plus lose markup on parts. IDK about Toyota but this is why a GM dealer flat out told me they didn't want to do the head replacement on my 06 Colorado.

It's the same instructions... Just substitute the "D" light for the "AT TEMP" light... Do a bit more reading and you'll get it..

It is basically the same.... I don't think anyone has done a write-up on the actual 3rd gen procedure, but you can piece it all together with a bit of reading..

    Good luck

Surveys work. The wife put in a bad one after a dickhead service mgr accused her of lying about overfilling the gas tank on her Hyundai causing check engine lights all the time. Threatened to start charging her everytime she came in. No problems since and a coupon for free service.
