First thing I notice when it's that cold is how rough the suspension is and how sluggish it is until the trans and diffs warm up. I don't notice steering or braking though.

Manual trans feels like it's filled with molasses, clutch/throttle response, steering, handling, noises, it feels like it doubles in weight.

Edit: my brakes are very grabby before they warm. Between the grabby brakes and stiff springs/shocks, it is less than comfortable to stop.

when that layer of flash rust gets over your rotors and theres that one spot with no rust from your pads and you get that pulsating grabby brake. I hate that...

Mine sleeps inside and it is rare that a day goes by that I don't drive it. But, that sounds like it sucks.

Oh, I never realized that might be what causes that. I don't notice that much, perhaps since my rotors are relatively new, but I have noticed it in the past and wondered wtf it was. Makes sense.

Have not. Still haven't really tuned it for max power yet. Still running a conservative tune. I'd like to dyno it once I get the tune perfect and see what the numbers are. The TRD superchargers are fun but don't make the truck a race car. Especially once you have a lift, tires, and armor.

Yeah. . . I'm a bike guy, so I consider very few four-wheeled things really fast. But I'm curious what that 1st Gen supercharger is capable of. Having a couple more feisty ponies is never a bad thing

Think the most ive seen from a TRD blower is barely 300hp.

300HP sounds like plenty to me. I'm not expecting a race truck, but that would be quite the step up from a stock N/A 5VZ. And since I'm still fairly stock, that would feel pleasantly quick to me.

Yea, i think that was a sea level truck with the 2.1'' pulley and a good tune on the URD 7th kit plus headers and exhaust.

May have been a 4runner dyno sheet..i can't remember. Im sure you can find dynos out there.

I've looked at some in the past, and read claimed numbers. IIRC, 230-260HP is more typical. 300HP would be an outlier. Though must have been nice if the truck was still stock and light, regardless if Tacoma or 4Runner.

that texas ace guy was making over 300 but he had loads of fuel mods and meth injection.

yea like i said, think the highest ive seen was just around 300.

Most are around the area you said.

Turboing is much more conducive if you're wanting more power. But isn't as reliable or easy. Its gotten easier in the last 3-4 years but still not nearly as plug and play or simple.

Not that ive had a great experience with "plug n play" from a TRD blower..

yea and at some point, the Roots blower just looses its effectiveness and taps out.

What i want to see is a whipple blower on there. It almost looked like you could swap the cores but doubt it.

i like the centrifugal sc kits you can get for the 2nd gen trucks. I hear when pushing the trd chargers they get quite hot. not sure i you seen it but there was a blower for sale on here last year modified to run an intercooler.

Oh hell yeah. Some of the numbers and performance I've seen from turbo'd Tacos is impressive. Not surprising that you'd need more knowledge and effort to get real power. You'd be taking a 4x4 pickup truck and trying to make it fast. If you've got the money, patience, and drive to do so, have fun. But for most people who want a quick pickup, they can just get something like an SVT Lightning.

Yea i saw that. Won't help it from getting hot though. Help a bit for the air temps. Roots blowers are the least efficient type of FAI. They generate a ton of heat.

Centrifugal systems are cool too. Gadget was working on a kit for our trucks but decided it wasn't worth it and stopped. They work much like a turbo, obviously.

The Whipples are pretty cool though. But have to be custom everything for our trucks.

Yea or just swap a motor. Really, the other danger is you put in more power but the rest of the truck can't hold it.

But that's the boost bug for you :D haha

I'm lucky I've never driven anything FI before, so I haven't really been bitten by that bug. That and money. I'm sure it'd be fun as hell to boost or swap, but the money for a project like that is just not there. The initial costs, the running costs, the costs to repair and/or upgrade parts once they start to fail from too much power. In a way, not having money benefits me :p

I still like to be seen as a sleeper, people change lanes cause I got a big ass tent over my bed thinking I'm gonna slow down traffic with that weight. That thing goes around 2300 rpms and I hit them with that whine.
