Hey Dudes, my buddy Sean and I have another 3rd Gen Toyota 4runner Mod video for you that maybe you 1st Gen Tacoma folks can get some use out of too. If you been wanting to look more bitchin while cruising the local mall parking lot, why not try out a 2" Toytec Body Lift to make your rig look cooler and more attractive to the opposite sex or same sex if that's you preference.

Here's the video and Enjoy the Show!

2.5 lift, the usual that goes with it. Work in progress.
Body lift to combat high side? How when the frame is still at the stock height? All it does is change weight distribution in the wrong way. Ideal is to get the chassis up to prevent catching. Not being a peckerwood but, as a mechanic I see body lifts like the redneck version of $2000 wheels on a beat ass Honda Civic. Just mho

I wasn't talking about high siding on the frame with that comment in the video. Of course the frame isn't going anywhere with a body lift. I was saying the body would be higher and out of the way to avoid high-siding on the body causing body damage if someone didn't have sliders.

You Tacoma dudes are a tough crowd. Would I ever put a body lift on my rig. F*ck No. But, do people install these and will continue to install these body lifts? Yep, they sure will. If you watched my video, you can tell I'm not enthusiastic about them. So, since people are going to install them with or without our helpful video, we decided to make a video of it.

As far as I can tell, you only gain a few functional things with a body lift.
    1) You can run bigger tires
    2) You might avoid some high side body damage when wheeling if you don't have sliders
    3) Accessing the rear upper shock mount nuts is much easier for the 4runner because you can go right through the wheel well with a wrench instead of up and over into the stupid dished out area of the mount the Toyota engineers decided was a good design.

    Peace out!

I wouldn't go any more than 1" with a body lift, but there are a few potential benefits:
    - Less cutting required to run bigger tires (35"+)
    - you can get bumpers and sliders up higher, increase approach/departure angles, and get more angle on sliders, more like boatsides
    - run longer shocks/coilovers without cutting through the bed/fenders
    - clock the transfer cases up so you have a flat belly (can't get them up high enough without BL)
    - more room under the hood to lift the engine up a couple inches, increase oil pan clearance especially for a solid axle

Bodylifts are highly NOT recommended between tacoma owners. Alot because of safety reasons. Been quite a few cases of damage and the cabs shifting using bls. Mounts just can't take the added leverage.

Thanks for this response. There's more benefits to a body lift than I originally thought.

Makes sense that the body could be more prone to shift due to the extra leverage.

To many body lift rumors and no facts. I have ran them in the past on trucks with a not so great aftermarket. (Dakota and zr2 blazer) your stuck between bodylifts and shitty drop bracket lifts...or cranking torsion bars, which rides like a train box car. Body shifting is all bs unless your mounts are rotted out, but your stock mounts will do it regardless. Loctite and torqueing no exceptions. I've ran 3" Bl's on 2 different vehicles in a 10 year span and beat the shit out of both. Quit spewing this TacomaWorld brain wash bullshit.

In my state anything over 1" is illegal for inspection. Then again Pennsylvania has alot of laws on inspection. I know this due to being an inspection tech
