Always get GAP Insurance on new vehicles because insurance companies will do everything they can not to pay out. But in your case it was their fault so you can go after their insurance company for the difference. Either way, in the end you'll still be lucky to break even and have to come up with money for your next down payment.

What didn't you like about the F-150? I love mine but I also didn't go with the Ecoboost motors, stuck with the proven 5.0.

My mother just bought a brand new loaded Sierra and although nice, I can tell it'll have the same stupid issues all the GM trucks have. They hit 100K and start rattling and have electrical issues.

As for a Tacoma, don't buy a lemon. Look new or low mileage used but they're usually so close in price it doesn't make sense to buy used, especially since you can usually get a better APR new vs used.

We are going to sell our used 2016 DCSB TRD OR in a few months. Only has maybe 3K miles on it. Not sure what we can get for it yet.

I wouldn't buy a lemon buy back especially a first year of a design change. You may save a couple grand but you will be fighting vibrations or transmission issues etc.

Too bad your not in Canada because I would sell mine for 32000 usd which is a good deal.

Anyways I would recommend test driving the manual and automatic. For more than 20 minutes and also on the highway

You are selling a brand new truck with 3k miles. Unless you bought it for 15-20% off MSRP you are going to take a hit. I see 2016 Tacoma TRD off roads 4WD w/o the premium tech package and auto trans selling for $32-33k in my area (northern West Virginia and southwest Pennsylvania) when they MSRP for $36-37k.

I see ones with the tech package selling for $34-36k when they MSRP for $38-40k.
New vehicles instantly lose $2-3k in value off the MSRP the second they are driven off the lot even tacomas with excellent residual values. I hope you bought yours $3k off the sticker price if not you are going to sell it at a lost. Tacoma owners don't come out ahead with the resale until they have kept it at least 2 years.

That's why I made absolutely sure I am going to love this 3rd gen Tacoma for the next 15 years because I plan on driving it till the wheels fall off thus resale value doesn't matter to me.

Yeah. We knew we were going to take a hit when we bought it but we needed t to get all the products done and on the market. It worked out just fine because we've sold hundreds of third gen sliders, tons of skid plates and quite a few bumpers. Getting people to bring their truck by for parts never works out. So we gambled with up front cost and it worked out so far.

I had a 2014 DC, went in for an oil change, got suckered by a sales pitch, drove out in a 2016 TRD DC, sweet looking truck(looked like your profile pic), but after driving it a few days I started to notice things.
2014 handled better, better gas mileage, a little smaller, easier to park, I got caught in a shiny thing trap. Plus too many bells and whistles, I ain't using crawl mode or multi terrain. Blind spot assist was nice, and so was backup assist, but again not necessary.not to mention the transmission which was f'd from day one. Strange shifting, no real power when you needed it.
Anyway, an asshole drunk driver took care of that truck for me, one month later! I was able to recoup all I had paid for it, probably because it was in my driveway when he hit it, and lucked into a 2015 DC TRD sport, an expired lease(?) Turned in with 25k on it for $24k. So I ended up with a truck I like better. Having the unique perspective of driving a 3rd gen for a month, I like the 2nd gen better. Most importantly, decide if you want those bells and whistles, they cost a lot of money, and you'll probably drive the truck for many years, so get what you want.
Side note, DD also took out my son's corolla, 10 years old, got 6k for it, all Toyota's hold their value.

I had the 2.7, test drove teh 3.5 TT and the 5.0. I never had an issue with the way it drove, or any problems to be honest. It did rattle some interior pieces at highway speeds though. It just felt cheap to me and I got the XLT sport with the shifter in the middle console. Still felt cheap. IT was a nice truck, dont get me wrong. I would have kept it for a long time. I would just rather have a GM truck or Taco. Leaning towards the Taco if I cant get all the options I want for the same price.
