Air cannon

Hey i just built my first air cannon. I wanted to know if any of you guys have them. I modified mine a little bit from the plans that i found on the net. I am attaching a green laser sight tomorrow. The laser also has a pressure switch. I put a few photos in my picture page. and i will try and attach a video below. That was about half way through the process and the glue was still wet. So its only a 40psi shot in that video. A 100 should be pretty good. I am going to build a few more barrels that will fit different size objects. Like a soda can filled with concrette. I think its going to knock down trees. haha

haha...thats pretty kickass man!!! we built us a golf ball shooter, and use a grill sparker as the firing mech. and we use hairspray as the fuel!!!! its pretty awesome!!

 

Well i wanted to make that one that you have. But the wife would nag me everytime i shot it off. So i figured that the air is a little safer. Plus with my air compressor hooked up to it, It fills the tank in a second or two. There is a plan online that is a semi auto with several barrels that rotate through. But i think i will stick with this one.

 

dude......your gun is way more awesome than the one we have......and alot more power to it too!!! that would be fun to shoot at squirrels and annoying kids in the neighbor hood!!!

 

i knew some guys that built a potatoe cannon. same concept. yours is pretty kick ass

 

It was pretty cheap to make considering what they sell for online. I made the whole thing and even bought batteries for about 70 bucks. And i have a few peices of pipe left over. If any one wants plans for the basic model let me know and i can post the link. Making the handles is also easy seeing how it doesnt have to be as critical because there is no pressure in them.

OK i think we all should make one or break out your present one and send in a video. Lets see who can blast the best target. HAHA i think i am going to sneak in the car junk lot and knock the heck out of a few Frontiers or just random cars. Its not like they can get really pissed.

 

sweet!!!! just dont get into trouble!!! heres an idea.....set up some cans on a bench in your yard and see how many you can hit.......just to check out your aim!! then start hammerin the frontiers!!!

This is the link that i pretty much followed. My lowes here in rochester ny carries the sprinkler valve. But it is an inline valve and not a 180 degree like they show in the picture. So you just have to buy a few more elbows and fittings to make the bend. A good tip here is to make the bend on the back side of the valve. That way the pressure is not always on the bend and extra fittings. Just a extra precaution. You can see what i am talking about in my pictures. And because i had to make the bend past the valve i was able to install a T fitting to allow me to make the two upright handles.Just remember to glue a plug in just after the t connection so you dont blow your thumbs off when you shoot it. If you dont want to have the handles that i do then you can skip the t fitting. You can always just make your cannon a shoulder fire. I caught the mistake when i test fired it with only a few psi in the tank.

 

just a heads up.be careful making spud guns. the BATFE could consider them a firearm depending on the way the potato is expelled!

No prob. It goes really fast. It took me a few hours to make the basic working cannon. Then the next day i decided to make the different handle for it. So that took another day with changing out parts and letting glue dry. Plus another trip to the plumbing store. But then again i cant stop working on projects till they are done or i am falling asleep. Its should take longer and be more enjoyable. I got issues. haha

 

Yup! They're cool as hell too! A little hairspray, an ignitor....and you're making mashed potatoes!
