That's actually a really good idea. Might be best to do a few months before the bumper to bumper warranty expires.

I actually asked the service guy last week when I had my 10k service done. He told me that that yes, it's covered by warranty if for some reason that it didn't work.

I winked at him and said, so if something "were to happen" then it would be replaced??? He said yeah, but they'd replace it with the same one. Didn't really think about it, but why would they be hanging onto last years Nav SD cards? I bet they would replace it with a new one.

Ok, download complete. Formatted my OE183 disk and I'm in the process of writing the downloaded image to the card now, and then to test. The downloaded disk image is exactly the same size as the image I made as a backup of the OE183.

On mine I had to press in on the right edge and it popped it loose.

If Toyota is like GM , they only update the maps every 2 years . Roads really do not change that much .

Are you trying to copy the file directly to the SD card, or writing it to the SD card using the Win32 Disk Image software?

The street I live on was made in 2012. It wasn't on the map of my 2016 truck.

    What. The. Fuck.

God knows my wife's 2013 Prius needs a map update too.

When I was looking through the files that are on the OE183, a massive amount of the information was company names, addresses, waypoints, voice data, etc. Nav updates aren't just the roads.

Good point . I have had a 15 Gm , 16 Toyota 09 Honda with a 2014 update , and an old Garmin standalone. None of them have all of the side roads right where I live . They say " you are entering an unverified area ". There roads have been here from the 1950's .
