Man, I should have just ordered the upgraded harness from you. Ordered a replacement harness from CaliRaised on New Years day and not so much as an update on when mine would ship yet. I may need to pull the Christmas stuff out of the attic just yet to see if the kids stuffed mine in one of the totes.

 

Installed my brackets and bar today on my rotation off. Fit like a glove and quality is great!

Decided to remove the front bumper and had the whole thing done in no time. Just need to run the switch into the cab after supper to get by until my Premium Harness arrives at the end of the week.

 

You removed the front bumper? Thought one just needed to remove the front grill to install

 

You shouldn't have to remove the bumper to do the install.

 

More premium harnesses added to the website. This will be the last batch so if you want one go grab it now!!!

 

Didn't have to, but I found it a little easier to get at the outer bolts for the brackets that way.

Correct. Was my choice to do so.

 

I don't know much about wiring, but I know the positive wire needs to go to the positive post on the battery. Do I have to run the negative wire to the negative post on the battery or can I just run it to a ground point?

 

I use the body ground right next to the battery. It is where the larger wire connects the battery to the body.

Question on how you got the wiring from the engine bay into the cab. Did you cut a hole or use a existing opening? I found where a group of wires goes through the firewall and tried fishing a wire through the opening but had no luck. I used a coat hanger to try and poke through. After a while I was afraid I might end up nicking a wire and cause other problems. Even if I was able to get through I do not think the opening would be big enough to get the connector on the end of the wire through. I know a bunch of you guys have done this install, what is your secret? Thanks...

 

There is a nipple under the main wire loom. Cut off the tip, de-pin the connector and feed them through. Plenty of room.

Thanks, I must of missed the nipple under the main wire loon. Will look for it. I hoped there was a way to get the wires through with the connector attached.

Thanks OhioTaco68. I never saw that grommet. I will look again, I assume it is on all Tacomas. Never de-pinned a connector before, guess there is a first for everything.

 

Must be missing something... is this correct, 43 ft/lbs, for the crash bar bolts? I have been searching everywhere and can't find anything.

 

Is it the second and third line item here?

OhioTaco68, thanks for all your help, I finally got the light wired up. Spent the afternoon doing it. Found the nipple to cut off, never did see it, only by feel did I find it and cut the end off. Then feeding the wire through was another hassle. Had to strip back the majority of the wiring cover to fit it through the tiny opening. Also had to de-pin the connector. Was in no hurry and had nothing else to do so I probably sent 4 hours (including TV breaks) until I had it completed. I had the LED light bar in and mounted in about 30 minutes. Pretty easy even with no helper.

 

Stuff usually is more complicated than some people make it seem. Glad youre hooked up!
