So what camp pass do we need? The backcountry one?

 

Any one do any fishing on this trip? I might tow my jon instead and test camp

 

There's a Dunkin Donuts but no Starbucks.

I'm not sure which pass it is exactly but I'll figure it out. I'm pretty sure its the backcountry pass and it's ~$8. Most people may or may not usually purchase one. I'm sure the fine for not purchasing one is much more than $8 though.

 

Says basic camping permit. Looks like its $7 for a 3 day permit. I'll pay, that money goes to good use.

Buy ahead of time if you plan on arriving in the afternoon. I arrived around 6pm CST last year and the Welcome Center was closed.

 

Thanks, I almost never get one anymore since they are always closed when I arrive.

 

The first year, Turkey bay was open and we camped and rode there. It snowed and sleeted for 3 days and, for the first time, we saw a bald eagle. Since then, every year numerous of us call and ask about turkey bay being open and it's either "the park is closed due to crappy trail conditions" or "we don't want to scare away the bald eagle" so there are no more arrangements made to have the meet at Turkey Bay. If it's open, cool we can ride it. If it's closed, cool I didn't expect for it to be open.

 

I'll be bringing my fly rod. I brought it last year and never got it out. Neville Bay does have a boat ramp and is located in a cove. (or bay I guess )

I hunted an island on the river last Sunday. Two bald eagles came over the tree tops right above us, maybe 60-70 feet up. It was absolutely beautiful. American as fuck.

I felt as though I should stand and sing the Star Spangled Banner whilst drinking a PBR.

I don't want to stay in a hotel, rather hang with the crowd and camp. Also don't want to sleep in a tent if it's less than 40° though

 

Camping in less than 40 degrees really isn't bad if you have warm clothes and warm sleeping bags. No shower for 3 days though. I like roughing it, but a shower is the second thing i do when i get home. Taking a shit is 1st.

Tell her there's the lake if she fells bold enough

 

Obviously no toilets either then lol. She's probably not gonna come then, her loss.

 

I do have a big 6-8 person tent if anyone needs one. It's too much for just me and the dog, need to pick up a smaller one.

 

There's a toilet (outhouse type of building) there. And tell her there will be other women there also.
