Hey, first time Tacoma owner. I just put down $500 to build a white 6spd manual TRD Pro. I've been reading and watching all the reviews I can find. One video showed their two test tacomas(2016's) having steering misalignment issues after a few minutes of high speed off-roading. Both trucks had the same issue, and it looked like they weren't doing anything crazy. I plan on taking my Pro off-roading as much as I can, so this is kinda makes me nervous. I couldn't really find anything more when researching this issue. So my question is this an actual known problem with these trucks?

Any input on this or other weak links while off-roading would be appreciated!
Excluding the obvious need to get different tires.

    Thanks guys

Havent heard of that issue. However wheel alignments are always recommended if off-roading.

3" OME Lift, Custom Fab Sliders, Decked System, ARB Front, Rear Lockers and compressor, 33" BFG K02 tires on TRD Pro wheels. Added a 2" receiver hitch, backup camera and some interior mods (console on the bench, skyjacker seat modification, some other things)
Can you post a link? I've watched every video I could find and I haven't come across that.

The name "PRO" pisses me off to no end. It is not a Professional bashing machine. It is a feature rich, light duty off road capable truck with nice shock absorbers. I hate marketing BS. That said, the Pro is certainly a beautiful truck and I wish you the best with it.

The losing alignment issue is due to the fact that this is a 4400+ pound truck with "OK" duty front end parts. Losing alignment under heavy off road use is a reported issue with the TRDOR. I don't think the PRO is any better, as far as holding alignment when bashing, as they do not upgrade the components that go out of alignment. You may need to do some upgrades to the PRO's steering for bashing.

I would recommend using the PRO as a high end, off road adventure machine. If you want to truly bash, get an old, leaf sprung Jeep.

Off reading is relative. Some people consider driving down dirt roads to be off-road or driving in an open field. Easy stuff.

If you're taking it off road as much as you can, get an TRD OFF ROAD and build it up yourself. The TRD pro would still be considered a stock truck if you took it off road.

X2. The pro is basically a stage 1 kit that isn't adjustable. Stage 0.75???

Whatever you do if you need work done on the truck by the dealer don't tell them you took it offroading. There is a risk they'll tell you it won't be covered under warranty as one poster found out here with his leaf springs. The dealer refused to perform the TECH tip to clean them out.

As a pro owner I agree with almost everything said above. It is a light duty truck period. It's for people that occasionally use it off road. And want leather heated seats all the bells and whistles with out having a sunroof. That's it. That all being said ,I'm happy with mine so far. 4800miles no squeaks no bullshit besides the howl in the rear seat area from the vent.

I have a automatic pro, I mostly mall crawl and hit up starbucks with it, so I can't help on the offloading question. I would put some icons on it though if you plan to offroad. You'll be able to recoup a lot of what you spend on icons, by selling the stock stuff. We have icon stage 4 or 5 setup on the '13 DCLB trd sport and really enjoy it for heavy usage lol.

What are icons? Will they help with keeping the alignment under heavy off roading? Please educate us. Thanks.

i hit a pothole pretty damn hard on Friday at about 25mph, a firm strike for sure on 17" E tires, driver's side front. and now i'm pulling hard to the right. nothing abnormal about that. getting a fresh alignment and some parts installed next week. there's nothing abnormal about the front end on these trucks.

They make suspension parts better suited for offroading. I'd go with their coilovers and shocks and some nice tubular uca's. These trucks won't hold or lose an alignment any more so than any other truck offroad imo.

    FYI....

You don't buy a true off road rig, you build it....

When you break it you fix it.

That I agree with BUT if you watched the Tacoma commercials for the 3rd gen you'd think it was made specifically for off road use... just sayin..
