how many people needed to get truck cap off?

figured i need to invite some muscle over. i need to move several motorcycles around, and i need to pick up gardening materials..compost, soil, etc. cap will need to come off. me and one other? or three of us. i need to flip it on it's side, and get it thru an oversized gate, for backyard storage. never had it off before, and bought the truck used, so i have little idea about cap weight.

 

I'd recommend 3 or 4 people assuming it is a skirted cap. It will be much safer to handle without damaging the skirt or scratching the cap. Unskirted cap you can prob. get away with 2 guys.

 

You couldn't be much further away from me otherwise I wouldn't mind helping.

Most 05+ Tacoma caps have a 2 inch long /.25 thick "fiberglass skirt" that hangs from the bottom of the cap, meant to cover the factory black plastic bedcaps. Fiberglass is a fairly resilient material but it is a prone area to cracks and damage.

Minimum of 2, or find a way to jack it into the ceiling.

 

Mine weighs about 200 lbs. so 2 people can lift it on and off of a truck but its pretty tough. If you are moving it on its side through a gate then 3 or 4 people should be fine.
