Is the situation same with TRD reflash?
A lot of searching, but I have not seen an answer.

I think I'd prefer The AFR to start dropping earlier.

Anyone who signs up. You need a compatible cable though. I just happen to know of a particular group buy thread for you to look at :D :

    Salary non-except is a God send. :D

You've got to be kidding about the installer. What a hack job.

The guy working at the front counter was raving about what a genius the installer was, too. I actually had to loosen all of the clamps and reposition the shell on the bed too because he had it on crooked. Hack job indeed. Install was free though, so whatevs.

    This should work:

Are Toyota dealerships the only ones who can do the ECU reflash because I have a feeling I'm going to get some pushback from the dealership when I take it in with a SC that's isn't TRD brand.

Started surgery on my truck today. Did the injectors, cam gears, spark plugs and thermostat so far. Tomorrow is the fuel pump, UCON EMS, and as much as I can get done on the supercharger.

Was it difficult to remove the cylinder heads? I was just reading up on replacing the timing chains (just for the hell of it) and was curious how difficult it would be to get to them.

according to the TIS site, yes. you buy the two day Professional diagnostic for $55, and it gets you access to all available ECU calibration files, both N/A and S/C'd, as well as the techstream software

id imagine if nothing else sign some sort of waiver saying that the dealership is on the hook for the tune and flash procedure and nothing else, and i bet they would do it. that way if they FUBAR your ECU trying to flash it your not screwed, and the dealership isnt responsible for anything you might do after you leave

I have to try this. Because here in Europe US-model calibrations are not available through Toyota dealers. But I have a friend there who could try install the file if I could get it.

You just remove the valve covers, not the heads. I was working with a friend, so we were checking each other's work. Having an extra set of hands is good, too. It's a little intimidating when you dig in, but rather straight forward. Just take your time and it's not a big deal. The bolts holding the gear on are stupid tight, though.

As long as your paying for it they shouldn't care. They will probly just bitch and say they can't guaranty that it work.

As a technician I'd be all over that easy money. If I did software updates for an hour each, all day I could probably flag 30 hours a day, barely get my hands dirty and still get off early.

Today's progress: got most of the fuel tank connections undone, installed a couple idler pulleys, yanked the ECU and attached the UCON for install, drained the coolant, swapped the supercharger pulley to the Stealth 2.85". Attempted to pull the main crank bolt but even my air impact wouldn't do it. Making progress.

I think some people use a cheater bar to attach to that bolt and then very briefly crank the engine to bust it loose.

I think @jberry813 has some experience with this IIRC.

I was told to give that a try. My impact is supposed to belt out 600ftlbs max, but it won't budge.

That's because the bolt was tightened at 605ft/lbs...
