I'm new to this forum and will hopefully be the owner of a used Tacoma in the next few weeks. I'm not trying to start a sport versus off road debate, but I am curious about peoples opinions on these two trucks.

I'm between two used Tacoma's a 2011 TRD Sport (32,000 miles) and a 2013 TRD Off Road (60,000 miles). The price is essentially the same, both are from states that don't use salt on their roads, and I would prefer the off-road based off the A-TRAC and locking rear differential, but I will only doing light off-roading so either the sport or the off-road will most likely fit my off-roading needs.

I'm trying to figure out which miles/year combination is better, and if people really liked the updates between the 2011 and 2013. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Welcome to TW.
If your prices are roughly the same, I would probably lean more towards the newer model. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 2011, and it has Lower miles on it, so I would lean towards that one too.
    Are the 4x4 or PreRunner?
and what color are they ( I know, probably least important).

Thanks, both are 4x4. The sport is silver streak mica and the off-road is white. I'd probably prefer the silver, but I don't want color to be the deciding factor.

I would honestly go with the 2013 Off road with 60k... yeah it has 28k more miles. but these trucks run for a lifetime. the 2013 will have a nicer interior. plus it has the extra off road capabilities. id like those capabilities just incase you end up getting into more off roading like i did (wish i would have gone with an off road and not the sport).
but its up to you! test drive both and see which you like more.

    True, just wondering.

OP, I have to agree, I think I would go with the off road also.

I would also lean toward the 13. but lower milage is also good. really the only difference is the locker which does come in pretty handy when you really need it. I have read that the OR ride a bit smoother than the sport. but the sport does have a fancy scoop that is just for looks. and can be a problem when the sun reflects in you eyes from it. if I was in your situation I would go with the OR. but it's about what you like more

2013, better interior, more off road features.

Seats are the same in both models.
