You should never question the Farmers Almanac. :crapstorm:

No one can manage to predict the weather for TOMORROW, much less 2 months.....But they have an uncanny knack for getting close.

When I met Mike for the 2nd time I finally asked him if he was ex-Military lol. Dude has more gear than anyone. Was wearing some 5.11 Tacticool-ish pants and had flashlights and knifes everywhere it seemed.

    I'm :jellydance: I must say

We were cleaning out the truck a few days ago. I have this habit of sticking all sorts of weaponry in the cab. Sandy started counting.....Besides the 2 knives I carry on me, there were 3 hunting knives, a machete, 4 hatchets, a shotgun and 2 handguns. I say you gotta be ready when you go to the mall....

    i quoted the wrong line.

    for now :spy:

:anonymous: not military, just an enthusiast. I like those type of cargo pants, and i always have my regular pocket knife on me and a bowie/survival knife and 2 flashlights when camping.

I'm usually over-prepped too. Boy Scouts...

Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.

When they opened the Cabela's store near here, they had these really handy gear bags on sale. Not being one to pass by bargains, I bought several. One is now stuffed with recovery gear. Another is full of extra winter clothes/jacket/gloves. Then there's one full of rechargeable lights, chargers, extra batteries, and fire starting "stuff". Every nook and cranny has a hatchet stashed away. I usually have some sort of limb saw. Recently there's a new bag with camera gear. A smaller one is filled with maps, navigation gear, a few MRE's, and such. When I was in the Army, we were taught to travel light. Recent years I've started packing for Armageddon.

That's always been a personal mental struggle with the amount of 'stuff' to "need"

I'm fairly new to the area (moved to Nashville about a year ago), and TW but this trip sounds awesome. I've never been to LBL but my SO has, and loves it, does anyone bring along their other half, or is it supposed to be more of an escape than that?

We also tend to pack enough food for an army. Usually have the Yeti cooler filled with drinks and ice, one or two Coleman coolers with food, then a smaller cooler in the cab with snacks and a few more drinks.

Back "in the day" I'd go off on adventures with a thermos full of soup, a couple Army canteens full of water and a Snickers bar. Now it's everything that'll fit in/on the truck.

My wife will be there, maybe even if I wasn't. She's as into this sort of thing as I am.

Awesome my fiancee really likes camping, and anything outdoors, so I'm sure she'd have a blast.

I know that feeling, out of the two of us, I'm usually the one that has a harder time getting off the couch.

It's still pretty much stock, but I just recently got bit by the mod bug, so we'll see how long that lasts. My bed cover isn't on in these pics, but this way you can see the bike mounts in the bed.

In the two cubbies in my bed, I've got a roll of paper towels, and a roll of TP. In the last year I've had a legitimate use for both.

A few things I know I want to get for this trip. I'm sure you guys can help since a bunch of you have been

Dash cam- Nothing fancy, want HD and something that will produce a good quality video
    Hatchet
limb saw, fold able I prefer
    LED flashlight, med sized
    tow strap

What do you consider necessities? I know a lot of you have stuff already so some things I wont HAVE to buy my own. But don't want to have to rely on you guys for everything.
