No, boats don't count, they are just expensive period. You can race 12 months if you want! I see them racing in Boston harbor in February, those little things, they wear drysuits!

I've raced at courageous in Boston a few times. It freezes down here and my boats to big to trailer launch. I would love to sail in the winter on it just can't risk the ice pack.

For what it cost I could have built a sweet buggy out of my truck. Told the GF I wanted to name it "Crawler" in tribute to my stalled Tacoma project. That was denied so it's "Fervor".

My uncle's last sail boats were named 'Breaking Wind' and 'Blow Me'. Blow me was spelled out with different island flags so it wasn't quite as apparent what the boat's name actually was. I miss sailing, it's a lot of fun but, you're right, the rigging and sails can get expensive, especially in salt water.

At least I don't have to insure the bike for the track. But it's about $240/track day, plus tires, oil change every other track day, sometimes lodging

What's the life span of your track tires? I'd imagine they are soft and wear out quickly but have no idea how fast track tires wear out.

Depending on the tires some only last one or two days, or one season

The few track days I did the tires would last the weekend if you went full race compounds, but I'm a fat ass. And then I started drag racing the bike and you could spend thousands of dollars to shave a 10th of a second off your ET's. And clutches- so many clutches.

Any hobby can be made stupid expensive depending how far you take it.

Roethlisberger's 0-3 @ Gillette. Maybe he's due, but the Pats are tough team to beat at home.

Ain't that the truth. Iv been on some boats where an insane amount of money is spent on stuff. Honestly I understand the carbon fiber toilet bowl, that's like 5 lbs. but seriously the carbon fiber coffee cup holder is rediculous.

A serious racer would just get rid of the coffee cup holder altogether.

I went out this morning and released tension on the belt and spun them all. They feel basically fine. Maybe there's a little more resistance than there should be, but not enough to be a problem. Watched them all when it was running and there are no wobbles or anything.

I doubt it'll fail any time soon. So, that's the extent to which I care about that until spring. Too cold to mess with that stuff now.

you would think so but I guess when the crew wants 6 cups at a time every couple hours it's a logistics thing. I said the same thing.

I was told that passing 6 cups individually through the cockpit slows the boats a few seconds and doing this numerous times is worse than the weight of a holder for even a short 500 mile race. The skipper said he lost a Bermuda race by less than a minute and figured if he shed a few hundred pounds and few seconds over 3 days he would have won. But he's won his class more often than not so I guess he may be right.

Probably but a head is required as part of the rules to not violate and marine pollution laws. I guess it's like when lifted trucks have tiny mudflaps.
