So I've noticed lately that my front doors don't always latch closed. Sometimes I'll shut them and the domes go off and everything but it still tells me the doors are open. I usually have to lock/unlock them to get them to work properly. Once I took about 10 attempts to make it stop. Sometimes I've noticed that my exterior door handles will actually still be in the open position and I'm basically locked in until I roll the window down and open the door.

Initially I thought maybe they just needed lubed up so I sprayed some silicon lubricant into the latch mechanism. No dice. I also thought maybe they were freeing but it's been above freezing here this week and the issue persists.

I've scheduled a service appointment for Tuesday. But I was wondering has anyone else had this problem?

Need mo time, I think everyone is busy lighting fires in other threads.

That said I have not had that issue nor heard of it, I'd just take it to the dealer and have them fix it.

I have experienced a weird issue in a Ford but it was due to how the internal cable was ran.

When I went to the dealer to test drive a 17 TRD OR the back passenger door would not closed or latch. So when I bought mine I made sure all door was able to closed and latch.

Hopefully warranty can take care of you here. Post up solution if and when they find it so it can help others in the future.

It's sad, this truck has been in production since 2015 and stuff like this is happening? I guess that's what you get when the labor force is unskilled and getting paid $6/hour.

I'll keep you guys posted. I'm not super worried about it. Was just curious if it's happened to anyone else.

Sounds like it could be an issue with the way the doors were hung or weather stripping was installed causing a problem with the door being stubborn to latch /close flush. I can't say I've seen this complaint yet.

my 2012 doors would close as long as you closed it hard, I think in the 16 and 17s they actually put in vents near back seat as when doors would close it created high pressure inside the truck, no issues with my 17

So here's the scoop - Service guy called and said there's ice in the door latch. They said they can't duplicate the problem and Toyota said they have no record of anyone else having the problem. So basically every fucking time it happens I need to bring it in and hope they can duplicate the problem. I'm not happy AT ALL with that "solution". There's obviously an issue with water getting in there and they won't address it. So I asked him if I basically have to just live with it and he said yes. Fuck that noise.

But you'd think that if it was an ice problem you would break the ice upon opening the door and then closing it wouldn't be a problem right?

You'd think that but I guess that's not the case.

Have them spray water at the truck in the evening, let it sit overnight and freeze, and then try the door first thing in the morning.

They pretty much are. Unless they can duplicate it they aren't going to do anything.
