I am not entirely caught up on this thread but. The answer to this is Belize.

Still not 100% taken over by the tourists. They speak English as a national language. This is helpful for everything. You can head inland and see the ruins and the rain forest. We did this for half our first trip, then head to the coast and catch a water taxi over to Cay Calulker (super laid back) or San Pedro for the true island experience. Simple 2:1 exchange rate with the US dollar.

    Our Hotel Second trip.

And just a short flight from the states. About 4 hours from Tucson.

I have tons of pics and more info if you want. I love it there.

I would love to visit Belize, I was considering picking up a condo down there a while ago.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 2597LMT. We liked to just roll and pull off on a dirt road when tired (assuming we weren't hoteling it). KOA's are nice, but they can get almost as pricey as a hotel, and they are always kid\pet friendly which can really get annoying when you want good sleep.

What I like about this and the better Garmins are MANY of the fire roads and crap are listed... but even when not, it leaves a trail everywhere you've been on the screen. Even when there is no road, I can see exactly where I was, and more importantly when winding around in nowhere land, find my way back out as well!!! I'm definitely more of a fly by the seat kind of guy when possible.

This one has me thinking..... it's cheaper than SAS........ oh boy!!!!

    Google maps?

Seriously though, I look up national parks, then the state ones for what I'm driving through, then look up KOA and LA Fitness locations so I can figure out where to shower if it's an extended trip.

Def agree that they're pricey! Usually just shower at them if needed.

I an gonna use the KOA website. And just measure from campground to campground I think I found a good route. Put the addresses in on google maps to know my distance each day and I picked out some koas to stop at each night. Ill do some research to see which ones look nicer than others but I was just curious if anyone had something they really liked using. But I guess most people dont plan to drive from AZ to new Hampshire lol

Love having a RTT for road trips, but when doing extended trips I always try to have a backup plan incase the weather sucks. Don't mind sleeping in tent in the rain, but sucks having to pack it up wet and still use it days later.

Yeah I can always get a hotel. Just figured it would be cool to do a trip and get to see some scenery. The koa site let me pick between 5 10 20 50 etc. Miles from the route or highway I would be taking. So I can always change my mind sense the ones I was adding to the journey are close to the highway.
