I meant to add, I don't like the quality of the Walmart holster and that's something you could think about while you're building yours. :D

Since everyone else is bickering about who's is best. I will say this...... Any shock for the most part in the categories that have been discussed whether it be Icon, OME, King, Toytec, Bilstein any of those are a upgrade over that factory shocks when the truck is lifted higher than setup from the factory. Does King Off-road make a great shock? YES! Does Icon make a great shock? YES! So do all of the other mentioned in this thread. However there are different levels to everything different stages OME make a shock that is on the same level as KING or ICON with their larger bodies their valving and reservoir for cooling the shock quicker and holding more oil for better dampening. bilstein now makes them, OME has the BP-51. All of these guys make great stuff. How you couple them with the correct springs to suit your build is what will make the biggest difference. Having a true Coilover Assembly will be better because of how you can dial them in to your specific vehicle setup. @stronghammer your shocks have more travel than the OME? Sure they do but how far can you flex that CV shaft? Unless you have a long travel Setup with longer CV axles and limiting straps your setup and mine are on the same level as far as travel. Does anyone here in the southeast not desert or pre-running need Remote Reservoirs? Hell no! you will never get your shocks warm enough beating down the roads we have the ability of driving on close to us. Are they an upgrade to a larger shock body with extended travel? that is up for debate again as we don't live in the desert and are not jumping and running our trucks over whoops at 70mph. Lift kits and how you want the truck to perform is a personal choice. I drive my truck to work everyday and i wheel the piss out of it! almost every single weekend I am going somewhere off the beaten path! I have taken my truck through water up to the hood wheeled on rocks and mud up to the fender well with no issues. I run ome 886 coils on bilstein 5100 shocks and they serve great! I am running wheelers off-road 8 leaf pack with the OME add a leaf D29xl. i have a bed rack rooftop tent awning steel bumpers front and rear with skids. and no issues! except my fuel mileage is a smooth 16mpg

I wasn't bickering. I was simply stating facts about my own suspension, and opinions from others about theirs. That being said, some apparently think I bought my suspension only for bragging rights and I couldn't give a F about that. I bought mine knowing good and well the reputation and abilities of the suspension. I also bought extended travel so if I ever get the urge to buy a slightly different setup I can, guess what...OME guys can't do that without replacing their shit. I'm not bashing anybody nor do I care what suspension anybody buys, I mean damn I had a stupid ass spacer lift guys...c'mon. Quit getting your panties in a wad that my setup is badass and is yours is only good haha!

do not mistake my thoughts on the matter for saying anything ill towards anyone or anyones thoughts. I do not care what anyone else does to their own vehicle its not mine to care about. However i am simply offering up advice and some knowledge on the matter. That being said i think your setup is cool....i'm married with a mortgage and a wife in college so yeah im broke.

same from me. I have been single and living with dad for a while so you know, extra money helps. That will all slow once this house goes into full effect lol. That's why I "pushed" to get the big big items this last year.

I'm keeping the dakars, when I add the add-a-leaf I'm taking all the leafs out and drilling holes in the end of each one and adding a leaf divider permanent fix.

I'm not saying OME is bad I've had it on my past 2 truck. but facts are facts when ome shocks are really too short and Im personally not happy with them at this point in my build and with extra weight going up front the ability to put heavy coils up front that are adjustable when more weight gets added is the route i want to take. Like I said also I'm not going king, I'll probably go fox for said reasons above. The whole needs and wants crap is garbage. I want something else at this moment, eventually I will NEED it. but do any of us need a lifted truck, need a RTT, need mud tire or all terrain tire. no probably not. we want all those things.

Scotty's argument about kings are irrelevant because BLUE and the word KINGS. and its scotty....o_O Is king a proven company with shocks and coilover? yes. Is OME? yes. Does everyone need kings? no. Do I need the extra travel or will it really matter? Who knows.

Plenty of people are happy with ome, thats their personal prefence or thats whats in their budget. Also no one but you started the argument that what lift can go where anothers cannot and it really doesn't matter where mine can go or scottys or anyone elses can go that others can't. Its not a pecker measuring contest or a whose wallet is deeper contest. nobody cares. BUT ome shocks are to short thats not an argument thats a fact, and thats one of the reason I want coilovers. Also if you research on the forums how many people had OME and then eventually changed to a true coilover down the road....PLENTY. Plenty have said that they should have gone coilover to begin with instead of buying 2 setups. Im speaking for me personally that I do know that there is more travel and a better ride to be gained by getting a more expensive coilover and shock and thats exactly what I'm going to do when the time comes. A true coilover is an upgrade that I want.

***NOTICE TO ALL NEWBIES!!! OME IS NOT A WRONG CHOICE FOR SOMEONE, ITS A GOOD SUSPENSION AND WILL DO WHAT 99% OF EVERYTHING YOU THROW AT IT. ITS ALSO BUDGET FRIENDLY WHICH I KNOW FOR MOST PEOPLE IS A HUGE FACTOR. IM SPEAKING FOR MYSELF PERSONALLY. IVE RAN OME ON 2 TRUCKS ALONG WITH HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND OF PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD. SO IF YOU WANT OME GET IT, WILL I RECOMMEND IT? YES

    rants...arguments...points...made.

I really don't know. It's a great truck that I bought for a steal, nothing wrong with it and I love all the mod choices I've made to it.

Just this feeling I have of not being satisfied. I'm thinking of ditching it then building a Jeep TJ Unlimited.

That would be a fun project. Any next projects for me will be older. Like an old land cruiser.

You're right. My OME lift just isn't enough and it leaves me feeling like less of a man on the inside. Lol.
