The only brand loyalty exists by consumers. :)

Dealership employees only "look" loyal because it's subsequent to the positions they're in; I.E. deep discounts on vehicles on their lots they purchase and own.

Doesn't matter what figure a forum member shares, it's up to me to do the additional work to put it in context. Very rarely will a person provide enough information to show the entire story. I can't blame anyone, it's very personal.

Here in NY State you only pay sales tax on the dollar amount of the sale.Id the sticker is $32,000 and they offer you $20,000 in trade you pay sales tax on the difference,in this case sales tax on $12,000.
What I don't like about the dealers around where I live is they won't give you a trade value until you pick a truck to buy. Then they play with the numbers.More for your trade less off msrp.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
That's the way to describe what you paid -- except you left out what sort of transmission --leave in the dealer fee --but say so.

Great idea! -- but would it not be better if there was more consistency in the given price details?

Once again -- you bring the taxes into the issue -- Missouri also allows you to pay sales taxes on the difference of the two prices- this is for dealer trade- ins and private sales of ones "previous vehicle". This makes no difference to someone else in another state where the laws are different.

That's why they (lenders) keep lengthening out the payoff time --keeps the "monthly payment" down!
Do people having these long period car/truck payments ever really figure how much interest they are paying out? --I doubt it!

Perhaps some do, most likely don't and wouldn't know an amortization table if it walked up and smacked 'em in the face.

I had a finance manager once try to convince me that he'd save me so much money going through him instead of my credit union. Sure he could, by writing a seven year note on a three year old off-lease truck instead of the four year note I was doing with my CU.

Can you imagine still paying on a nine year old vehicle?

Sounds good on paper, but the reality is that no better solution outside of personal responsibility is possible.

There will always be some degree of ambiguity in any price level you ask for. Clearly defining a price level with wordy parameters (100% necessary for this) will really challenge the attention span of many people, intelligent or not.

A great number of people have no care for accuracy and will shoot their numbers from the hip regardless of any set parameter.

You are probably right -- it just is fun to know if one has got a "truly" great deal.
But also as someone else stated somewhere "It IS a great deal if YOU feel it is!

Exactly. Believe me, I'm two parts German ... and have a fundamental need for precision. You are preaching to the choir here.

As stated, not always the best resource, but I suggest you use all the resources possible to do your research, at least I do because I hate giving away my money

Not if you go on the vehicles forums and complain how bad it is constantly.

Some don't want to deal with the hassle. Also as stated, some places this helps off set some taxes.

OP- again as stated already when negotiating or should be discussing the Out The Door Price. But to do this, you should understand what others are paying before their states taxes and title and oth fees. Dealer fees should be discussed when talking about what you paid for the truck, these fees are negotiable and do change and are part of th profit for the dealer. I like to work with invoice pricing and feel that if you get around that you have done well.

This is the break down of what I paid

2017 TRD Offroad double cab, V6, Auto. No options, it's Canadian :)

Paid $42,400 OTD, included in that price was Pro skid plate, bed mat, and Toyota tub style floor mats front and back. All taxes, delivery charges, admin charges included in the price. That's cash price, no trade or financing. That equates to a hair over $32,000 usd all in.
